Lots of places to eat outside resort.
Recommend going Bed and Breakfast, ignore half board option.
Do not book April, May, June as 80 percent closed with only one restaurant on offer.

If you can afford it, get a suite. Overlooking the pool and the sea - perfect!

My top-rated restaurants are Camel, Bodegon Las Tapas, La Romantica, and Ninen.

Avoid altogether. Vastly overpriced.
2* - being generous. A very large ‘holiday camp’.
Pool areas fine except for other guests! Ring-fencing areas, playing loud music on portable speakers. No consideration for anyone. Vulture behaviour for sun beds ? Up at the crack of dawn we assume?
Altogether awful- unless you have very low expectations and this is your idea of holidaying, which amazingly seems to suit many of the ‘Indiscerning’ guests. Very disappointed with Althams and Jet2 for recommending.

Playa Blanca
A great little fishing village in the south of Lanzarote, that is a hot tourist spot, but hasn't been taken over by the tourists and lost all its charm.
It only takes around 20 min's on the ferry to Furta

Playa Blanca is our favourite resort (so far) on this our 4th visit to the island.
We will definately return.

Natura palace about 2 miles out of the main resort of playa blanca, but a level walk takes you into town...a few british bars, a few restaurants, no beach as such, pretty much a low key resort, no massive night life so if it's clubbing that you want, go somewhere else!!

Stayed in the papagayo arena which is slightly outside of playa blanca. We just drove every day through playa blanca and it seems like an ok ish resort. Completely purpose built with very little charm to it. It seems to have some bars and restaurants. There is a famous diving school which I think is quite good. The best about this resort is that you cn get the ferry to fuerteventura from marina rubicon in playa blanca and it has great beaches close by.
There two beaches next to the marina right in playa blanca. Both are quite small, one is probably about 300m, the other one smaller if I remember right. They seem ok, no waves, rather crowded with playa blanca in the backdrop which I did not like.
But east of playa blanca there is a series of absolutely great beaches. You have to drive (or there is a shortcut to walk past the papagayo arena hotel) into a nature resort which charges a small entrance fee for cars. There are about 3 main beaches, the first and third with ample free parking. You park on top of the hill and then climb down to the beach. All beaches are kind of in stone bays like lagoons, they have very clear and clean water with very little waves, The first beach (playa mucheres) is a pebble beach and quite crowded. You can walk to another beach from the car park (I frgot the name and we did not go there). Then there is the papagayo beach, which I liked best. It's a golden (brownish really) sand beach with crystal clear waters (you can see lots of fish even in shallow waters) At low tide more pebbles are revealed. Very little algae. Very few waves, which make it very pleasant to swim or snorkel. From the car park you can access 3 beaches really. The one on the right is a bit quieter and has rougher waves. The one on the left is slightly more crowded and has almost no waves and then there is one kind of on the back of the car park which is really empty. It was so empty that we were not sure if the sea is safe here (there are no flags to indicate this) so did not go there though it looks very pretty). |There is a bar and restaurant on top of the hill next to the car park. It is a bit of a rather steep climb down, not strenous but also not easy. Even when the beach is crowded, it doesn't seem over filled. Luckily there are no sun beds or umbrellas at all. The crowd seems extremely well behaved and pleasant here. Definitely a great beach.
We went in April and it is was not too warm, about 20 degrees but there is always a breeze on lanzarote which makes it feel much colder than that.
The sights I liked best (which are really scattered all over lanzarote) are probably closer to puerto del carmen or costa teguise, but it is so easy to drive on lanzarote it does not really matter where you stay.
To summarize, there seems nothing great about playa blanca but it is extremely close to the best beaches on the island (and you can always take the ferry to fuerte ventura to even greater beaches)

The resort and beach area were spotlessly clean. The resort entertainment mainly consisted of restaurants and places to drink - there were many different types of food - in fact our family ate their way around the world! Hire a car and go along to Papagayo beach its great - one side has big waves and the other is very calm for smaller children - you can walk but it is a very long way with your beach gear. The road is rought and taxis won't take you. All in all we would definately visit Playa Blanca again.

We love Playa Blanca.
It has a mostly flat promenade that you walk from one end of the resort to the other with lots of lively bars on the way.
The beaches are clean, the best beach is now Playa Dorada. Playa Flamingo was hit by a mini hurricane about 18 months ago and has had the sand restored but is waiting for E.U. finance to rebuild the jetties.
The Marina has been a fairly recent addition to Playa Blanca and had been tastefully designed with restaurants and up market shops.
The town has a good selection of shops, just enough to browse round in the evening. It has 2 or 3 supermarkets.
All in all a perfect resort for couples and families but perhaps not enough for teenages and younger people wanting night life.

We stayed mostly on the complex but did venture out a few times. In Playa Blanca, there are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops, and it also has a lovely beach with a few different water activities. The children were very happy staying at the Rubicon with their new found friends so we didn't go to the beach during the day. This was the second time that we have visited Playa Blanca and we really love it so would definately go back again and again and again!!!

Playa Blanca is a friendly and very clean resort. It is quite and has lots of restaurants with all varieties of food and drink. The beaches looked clean and were well supervised with life guards all the time during the day.
