Lots of places to eat outside resort.
Recommend going Bed and Breakfast, ignore half board option.
Do not book April, May, June as 80 percent closed with only one restaurant on offer.

Don’t stay here. Death would be better.

If you can afford it, get a suite. Overlooking the pool and the sea - perfect!

My top-rated restaurants are Camel, Bodegon Las Tapas, La Romantica, and Ninen.

Avoid altogether. Vastly overpriced.
2* - being generous. A very large ‘holiday camp’.
Pool areas fine except for other guests! Ring-fencing areas, playing loud music on portable speakers. No consideration for anyone. Vulture behaviour for sun beds ? Up at the crack of dawn we assume?
Altogether awful- unless you have very low expectations and this is your idea of holidaying, which amazingly seems to suit many of the ‘Indiscerning’ guests. Very disappointed with Althams and Jet2 for recommending.

Playa Blanca is a great resort for all ages, the beach is lovely and clean with lots of nice cafes and bars along the front.

My first holiday in Playa Blanca although I've passed through the place before. That's why I decided to give it a whirl. And I was not dissapointed.
Plenty of places to eat with some brilliant food on offer. Nightlife is mainly concentrated on providing for 30 somethings and up.
Lots of Irish bars all with mostly Irish entertainers who give you a good nights entertainment. The place was spotlessly clean while we were there. Any mess on the streets did'nt stay there long.
The downside is, as with anywhere which has had the Euro forced on them it's getting expensive. This place is going to be massive within the next three years as there's building work going on everywhere.
A word of warning though. Regarding the electrical and electronic shops. Avoid them like the plague unless you can afford to lose the money. You'll be ripped off big time. If you buy anything like digital cameras or cam-corders, check the list of contents in the box as the memory cards will be removed and sold as seperates. Most of the stuff they sell is fake copy and rubbish. The guarantees are worthless and you get no chance of getting it back.
Look for a pub called the Nag's Head. Small but nice, run by Ian & Elaine from Reading. The food there is very nice. Simple but good. They kids will love it. Took me 2 days to find the pub as it's upstairs at Paddy Mac's Irish pub at the top of the hill going out of town. I'll definitely be going there again.

Whilst Playa Blanca is said to be a small fishing port it is now location for many 1/2 room holiday homes both private and commercial. The new marina is well worth a visit especially when it is hosting the small market.
In February the restaurants were not too busy - some of the better ones are not located right on the sea front eg Romantica.
Shopping is interesting with nearly every other shop selling digital and video cameras. At practically all of these shops if you stopped to view you were accosted by an assistant - very annoying! Aloe Vera products are also much on sale and seem to be a cure for most ills if you read the blurb. The price for these products is generally very reasonable but check and compare before you buy!

Very quiet relaxing place, as it was Jan not to many people about. Great english breakfast at the nags head on the main drag above an Irish bar.
Lovely couple run it called Jim and Elaine, definitely have breakfast there. Jumbos chinese also very nice. would certainly consider visiting Playa Blanca again.

Playa Blanca is a beautiful resort. There are lots of nice restaurants in and around the resort. It worth hiring a car and exploring the island. Don't book excursions through your tour operator, doing it youself is a reaction of the price. El Golfo, Timanfaya,Famara and El mirador del rio are well worth a visit. We also went to the Cactus Gardens which is also very nice. I would definitely recommend Playa Blanca for a quiet family holiday and would definitely go back.

Liked Playa Blanca. Found a really friendly Irish bar with great entertainment and good priced drink. Resort seems to be very spread out. We were fairly central but some hotels were a long way from civilization. Playa Blancas promenade is brill you can walk for ages along the sea front good views but very few watering holes along the way.
Beaches- town beach is OK but narrow and shingly. Best are Papagayo ones but thats a fair walk or you can take a car with access to some.
Would I go again? Yes possibly. Was forced by circumstances to go away 1st week in Jan not the best time for hols in northern hemisphere! Was led to believe Canaries are all year round sun. We had 2 days on sunbeds when I thought yes this is year round sunshine. Other days had a cool wind. Evenings were freezing without exception not much warmer than home

The resort in itself is nice but probably the smallest on the island. It's undergoing a lot of development so in 5 years time will probably be quite lively.

Avoid unless 2* makes you happy. Sadly- it clearly does for many guests.
