Lots of places to eat outside resort.
Recommend going Bed and Breakfast, ignore half board option.
Do not book April, May, June as 80 percent closed with only one restaurant on offer.

Don’t stay here. I would stay under a rock on the beach in Playa Blanca over this.
Don’t stay here. Death would be better.

If you can afford it, get a suite. Overlooking the pool and the sea - perfect!

My top-rated restaurants are Camel, Bodegon Las Tapas, La Romantica, and Ninen.

Avoid altogether. Vastly overpriced.
2* - being generous. A very large ‘holiday camp’.
Pool areas fine except for other guests! Ring-fencing areas, playing loud music on portable speakers. No consideration for anyone. Vulture behaviour for sun beds ? Up at the crack of dawn we assume?
Altogether awful- unless you have very low expectations and this is your idea of holidaying, which amazingly seems to suit many of the ‘Indiscerning’ guests. Very disappointed with Althams and Jet2 for recommending.

The shops and beach were close to the hotel some nice shops to look around but not many bars to have a drink in just a couple we found. The beach was nice with a few watersports aswell. We wouldnt come back to this hotel as not up to standard but might come back to playa blanca one day.

Things To Do
Diving - There is a PADI office on-site and they are extremely helpful and will fit in around what you want to do. We did two shore dives and I did a night dive from the nearby Hotel Natura. They asked me to post a link to their site so here it is: http://www.divingtoninas.com
They were a two-minute walk from our apartment and then it was straight down the hill into the sea and keep on going! There is lots to see and, as the waters are protected, they are teeming with fish. Just tell them what you want to do. Check their prices too, we did not see any lower, note that it is even cheaper if you bring your own gear, we will next time (2 kids = total of 80Kg baggage!). You might also want to check with Thomsons on additional weight, we found when we dived in Malta that Air Malta will give you an additional 15Kg allowance just for dive gear (35Kg in total each). We will check that next time.
Glass Bottom Boat - This was one of the things that the reps told us about but we walked along to the harbour (15 minutes, lovely walk) and booked ourslves. Take this, it's real fun for the kids, they stop at one point on the way out and feed the fish. The boat goes to a lovely bay at PapaGaya which is brilliant for snorkelling, sand castles etc. Take plenty of bottled water though as there are no facilities on the beach unless you want a long trek up the cliff path. The highlight for our kids was the rubber dinghy from the boat to the beach (and back again afterwards). They make several visits throughout the day so you can choose how long you want to stay.
Restaurants - Well, most of the ones we tried were not too brilliant on the food, OK but not brilliant, apart from two: The on-site chinese restarant called "The Asian" (or similar) and the Steak House. Both share a large open upstairs dining area overlooking the beach, and there is a bouncy castle for the kids, recommended! The pizza place was good too, go around the back of the "Bolgnia" (or whatever it was called). I am sure there are many other good restaurants around the harbour but we did not have time to explore them all, maybe next time.
Feeding the Fish - (Make sure you only use bread or fish, tuna etc - other stuff is bad for them, I was told egg, ham etc can kill them). Just stand in the sea and start throwing it in - we had the water boiling with fish in a matter of minutes!
Snorkelling - This is almost as good as diving, the lagoon is quite cloudy from the sand but as soon as you get near the reef it clears and on top there are lots of fish, the best time is when the tide just starts to break over the top and lots of fish come in to feed.
there are loungers on the beach for 7.5E per day for two plus an umbrella.
The lagoon is extremely safe and is entirely enclosed until high tide when the artificial reef is finally submerged (good time for snorkelling, there are thousands of fish!).
One final comment - we were told that 99% of Lanzarote's water comes from desalination plants (amazing!) and the waste water is recycled for irrigation, this will explain the "odd smell" that another person wrote about, they irrigate overnight so the smell is worse in the mornings. Just think of it as the price of ecology!

A beautiful resort with plenty of character. Beach was clean. Golden sand water clear with lots of fish. Good for snorkeling. A lovely new marina at one side and an old harbour at the other.Plenty of good quality restaurants to eat in especially Jumbos Chinese and Tipico Canaria (next to one another.)Lots of perfume shops with reasonable prices - cheaper than airport!
Promenade from harbour to marina paved and well lit.

This is a quiet resort but it's not in the middle of nowhere. There is a lovely promenande you can walk along where you will come across a few supermarkets, bars and restaurants. Everything is fantastically clean and well looked after.

I love Playa Blanca and have visited there aprox. 10 times in the last 13 years. It is clean and all the locals are very friendly. There is a good balance between good restraunts and a bit of good nightlife, especially in the Irish Anvil and the Kings Head. The food is always amazing and have very rarely had a complaint about a restaraunt or hotel.

Playa Blanca just seems to get better. There is much building going on towards Punta Limones and within a few months it will extend about 2km inland.
Some nice restaurants and bars. The best place we found was 'Legends' and although it's a kareoke bar, don't let that put you off, it's used later on by hotel staff and reps - all of them nice people.
The Slow Boat Chinese near the roundabout in town is about the best although you'll be spoilt for choice when eating out.

Fourth time to Playa Blanca. Love the place. Great for families, beautiful clean beach with gold sand and lots of rock pooling opportunity! The resturaunts are lovely, a walk along the seafront promenade is a must, particularly lovely in the evening when its warm and breezy.

Cleanliness - Very good
Beach - They have lifted restrictions on beach tents and parasols so by midday the beach is awash with them.
Watch out for some of the young spaniards on the beach who are rude to the English.
Excursions - Wild West show excellant, noisy and good fun (Beer, sangria and soft drinks are included).
The Grand Tour is an excellant way to see the island.
The submarine safari is very good but the downside is that you are under water for approx 40mins and the fish are not exactly Nemo coloured.

The resort is quiet or as quiet as you want it to be.
We went HB but eating out is really good with loads of seafront pubs and restuarants. Best restuarant in my opinion is La Romantica grill acroos from Lacost shop and up the stairs. ( we have been here previously for the past 3 years)
Marina Rubicon is a must, which is a new development on the edge of town. A market is on Wed and Sat here which is right by the Marina itself. The Marina is stunning and has many nice eateries and shops.
Summary,a small compact resort which is low rise and easily accessible with no hilly bits for OAPs
