Best steak house TEX MEX or the American Indian who do a steak in Jack Daniels sauce. Chinese food try The Sunshine. Indian try the one near crazy golf on the front. If you want fish go to old town where the fish come right of the boat into the pan.

If you are visiting during the winter months then ask reception for extra warm blankets for the cold nights and also ask for the WiFi code .... Plenty of food places to try although buffet places charge high costs on soft drinks with your meal ..

The resort was perfect. Wasn't too loud, just perfect! Lots of families, and the staff in cafes and restraunts were so helpful, and the food was brilliant. Everyone was very friendly. Everyone spoke English which was helpful. The resort was very clean, and the beach was perfect! No rubbish, and the sea was very clear. I have never been to a beach that is so clean, friendly and relaxing.

The resort of the Old Town in Peurto Del Carmen is well worth a visit. There are lots of good bars and restaurants that have some fantastic food for very good prices. In my weeks holiday I only had 1 bad meal at a place called 'el Cangrejo rojo'. We waited for approximetely 20 minutes before even being given a menu and when the food was served it was overcooked and tasteless. However, there is a fantastic little Italian next door to a bar called Scotch Corner which was very intimate and the food was always cooked to perfection. There is also an excellent restaurant which has people queuing nearly every night to get a seat. Don't be put off by the queue because if you are prepared to wait for a table the food is delicious.

I cannot comment on the standard of the beach as I never visited the beach.

My friends and I were more into the nightlife in this resort, although we did travel to Arrecife and Teguise Market which were only a short (and very inexpensive) bus / taxi ride away. The Old Harbour was spectacular and we found the resort to be very clean as well as the beach. There were alot of families with young children who seemed to be enjoying the resort as much as my frineds and I, so although we were not looking for things to entertain children, alot of people were and seemed to find a variety of different things. The night life was brilliant with a friendly atmosphere wherever we went and no problems whatsoever. We are considering visiting the resort again as we enjoyed our time there so much. Definately a place to visit.

We liked Puerto del Carmen although we did think the pavements were in urgent need of repair especially returning to the appts at night and there was no street lighting. There are plenty of places to eat and very good value for money we ate out every night and the kids only visited MacDonalds once. Restaurants to look out for -Golden Sun Chinese, Las Vegas Steak House, American Indian Restaurant, Ruta 66 (great cocktails), The Golden Corner to name but a few. There are a lot of Lani Restaurants which we only visited once and then avoided everyone of them. Don't know who Lani is but he's making a fortune in his overpriced restaurants. We would visit the resort again as I liked the fact the transfer time was only about 15 mins from the airport to the resort but I felt there wasn't much for the older children to do.

This resort is extremely well kept with loads of stuff to do..
Beach is excellent and water was not to cold, although due to the volcano the sand has black in it which gets extremely hot.. Dont try walking over it with no shoes! There is a fairly large shopping complex which we found on the last day which is situated near the Harbour. Mc Donalds and Burger king are also just a short walk in opposite directions along the main strip. There are plenty of places to eat and all the restaurants are of excellent standard.

The beach was kept clean, every morning they were out raking it through. Two sunbeds and an umbrella cost 6 euros a day which I didnt think was too bad. There is a really good choice of bars and restaurants - the best one for food was La Brasserie, but the staff were naff. We got addicted to Stawberry Dakiries at Ruta 66 Bar, which were as cheap as a bottle of Smirnoff Ice(5 euros). Local beers are as cheap as ever.

Puerto del Carmen, being the main and busiest resort in Lanzarote was pleasant but not as busy as other main resorts we have stayed in in the canaries, like las americas in tenerife or playa del ingles in gran canaria. Bars and restaurants especially are plentiful, but if you want nightclubs the best area to head towards is the atlantico square. Drinks are cheaper in the resort than the hotel bar and the stawberry daqueries in the beach bar are gorgeous, with good music also. The beaches are very nice and hiring a pedalo is well worth it, as the dolphins came in very close, and only cost 10 euros per hour.

We visited the harley rock bar most evenings and would recommend this for couples of all ages and familes, what ever your music taste. The food there also looked very good and was reasonably priced. All in all an enjoyable, but quiter holiday than we have in the past but worth a look.

There were seven 18 yr old girls, including me, on our holiday to Puerto del Carmen and as soon as we arrived we went out a quick walk to see what it was like (it was about 11 o clock at night). My first thought was that I wanted to go home. We had been hoping for a lively holiday and the streets seemed dead. However, the next night we got dolled up and thought we'd make the most of it.....

Well, two weeks later on our way home 3 of us were planning our return to Puerto Del Carmen at the end of Sept.... We loved it!!!!

If you are hoping for a holiday like Magaluf or Ibiza then it will not be the right place for you- its far too quiet, but it was just what we were looking for. It had just enough bars (about 5 good ones) and about 3 clubs. This meant that you knew every one every time you went, always meeting the same people so it was a great place to make friends.

We ended up going every night to a bar called Paradise, which had great music (r n b, pop etc...the usual) and the friendliest staff. It also had two pool tables out on their decking area so this was ideal when you wanted to cool off from dancing inside. There were also casual waiters ready to serve you if you sat out on the decking. We met loads of people at paradise since we were able to talk freely outside where the music wasn't blaring in your ears. There was a lovely Welsh waiter, Steve who as a gem- say hi to him from the Glasgow girls and let him know we're coming back in sept!!! The manager was also lovely, Paul, and was always eager to please- he gave us a lot of free drinks!!! We used to go along at about midnight, order three rounds of drinks before 1am and then keep the tickets from this which allowed you to get three more rounds of the same free (happy hour was from 9-1)!! They did the best strawberry dacheri!!

We would usually stay in paradise until it closed (4am) and then head along to Caesars the nightclub. This was by far the best club in the resort. There are others- we went to Club Ibiza a couple of times but found it was full of locals who were constantly leering- we ended up leaving early because it was either empty or we were fighting the locals off!!! Club Ibiza played mostly chart music, which was good to sing along to, and on the plus also had a pizzeria inside it.

Caesars was excellent though- it played good music (mostly old school dance, although a few random rock and pop tunes too) was always packed by 4am and was usually always filled with people you recognised and spoke to in paradise. Most of the reps and bar workers would go there too so it was clearly popular with the Brits. The bar maids dance on the ledges with fire around them which could be appealing to some!!!

One downside to the resort was the fact that there was no take-always or anything open when you came out from the dancing! This meant we would be starving walking home.

During the day we found ourselves pretty bored- our own fault really because there was a water park about an hour away and trips etc you could go on but we did nothing but lounge at the pool and beach. We did go on the pedalo boats to pass the time on a number of occasions and were going to go on the banana boat (10 euros pp for 20 mins) but never got round to it. I think the only kind of different things we did were play crazy golf and go shopping........

I was actually quite impressed with the shopping centre, although there weren't loads of shops, the ones there were very fashionable- girls you have to visit Zara (its much cheaper in Spain) and Bershka - this shop was very trendy with the nicest jeans and cute little tops so make sure you bring some extra spending money and leave space in your case. There are also some good male shops to for all you shopaholic guys!!!

There was a big selection of food in Puerto del Carmen- pizza, pasta, meat, fish, Indian, Chinese, Mexican etc. There was a chain of restaurants called Lani’s, which was all over the resort and seemed to cover all nationalities of foods.... I wasn't really all that impressed but they did do a nice pizza in the Bistro restaurant. I am a vegetarian and thought the resort catered fairly ok for veggies, well.... good enough for a holiday resort... you'll probably live on pizza and pasta but I did manage to find veg fajitas (although they were not too good). I found that lunchtime was harder to find something I could eat- I am not exaggerating, they seemed to be obsessed with toasties- Everywhere sold them and even if you asked for a baguette it would come out toasted!!! I've been to fenguirola and gran canaria who, when thinking back, did more of a selection at lunch, more for Brits like baked potatoes, sandwiches, salads, roll and bacons, full English breakfasts but Puerto del cabmen was not like this... it was toasties, toasties, toasties!!!!!

We absolutely loved our holiday and cannot wait to go back in September... its a very versatile resort, excellent for families (there aren't lager louts about) but also excellent for young people like ourselves. I would recommend you go in high season (july/aug) though because we were there mid June and it was pretty quiet. We noticed the bars getting busier on our last few days so it gave it a bit more atmosphere. Overall...fantastic- I would recommend it to anyone!!!
