The actual apartment itself was lovely. The maintenance staff were lovely. But I can't recommend for a relaxing holiday or enjoyable time by the pool...

We stayed at the Aquasol Aparthotel from Feb 9th to 16th 2010.
The resort of Puerto Rico is good, there’s a main square in the middle where all the shops, bars and restaurants are. The beach is OK, Playa de Amadores is just around the next bay and is far better.
Its worth taking the boat trip to Puerto Mogan at is much more upmarket and newer, but I would avoid the Friday market as its mostly useless tat and fake t-shirt & handbags.

Puerta Rica is brilliant!
Not only does it have the best weather on the island, (while we were there, January), but it also has everything you would ever want on a day to day basis as well as being a great pied á terre.
Within easy walking distance of our apartment was the centre of the pueblo which housed an impossible number of restaurants and shops which, if you chose to venture into, would accost you at every possible moment to come and try their produce.
We had some enjoyable meals at various venues in the centre but at the Miami Steak House I had the worst, most expensive fillet steak I had during the entire holiday. Avoid at all costs.
Notably, the best fillet steak I had was at the Greek restauarnt which was upstairs on the sea front.
Hope this review helps.

The resort could do with enforcing people to clean up after their pets as pavements can be a minefield! There is a great little music bar in the centre which is a good spot to people watch. There is plenty entertainment for every all tastes. The beach at Puerto Rico is good but we like Amadores beach-a bit of a walk but worth it.

nice resort, the beach is one of the best i have visited.plenty of things to do , stacks of bars to visit day or night.the most important thing with this island and resort is the climate.had a week in november and the temp.was in the eighties every day.

the weather was great, sunny eveyday apart from 2days, theres a choice of two beaches, which are both clean and the sea is pretty shallow for bathing, sunbeds are 3euros each. theres two main centres, the one near mcdonalds, has loads of bars and restaurants, beer ranges from 90c to 3.50euros, depending where you drink. m&ms is where all the brits drink, very cheap, the music bars are are a rip off avoid, didnt really rate any of the restaurants here, churchhils was ok, san miguals was a real let down, both times our food was cold, theres nothing classy or charming about this centre is grubby and tacky.europa cente was alot cleaner . reastaurant al torro(europa centre)was the best by far, and reasonable. get a taxi here as its a long way up by foot. if you dont like be hassled this is not the place for you. the time share touts are a real pain, there on every corner of the main walk down to the beach, then all along the promanade, they dont take a no thankyou as an anwer, and keep on and on at you. this spoilt our holiday, the spanish should really do something about them. its such a big con, cant believe people fall for it. they you have people walkind around tring to sell you toys ,sunglasses, jewellery, watches, in your race everynight. then theres the bar and restaurant tout, begging you to go in. think thats covered it all, will not be visit the canary islands again.

Puerto Rico is a purpose built tourist resort which has sprung up during the last 25 years or so. The old resort centre is getting a bit 'tired' now and could do with a facelift, and is put to shame by the newly developed facilities just up the road at Playa Amadores. Even so, the endless variety of bars and restaurants on offer means that you could spend half the year there and still not get round them all, and no matter where you try, the quality of the food is consistently good - it has to be in order to survive the competition. The beachfront restaurants at Playa Amadores are especially good.
Despite the presence of the many bars, there is no obvious 'lager lout' element evident in Puerto Rico - certainly nothing like you might find in Playa del Ingeles or South West Tenerife.
The only real annoyance is the presence of the Anfi Beach reps along the beach front in the old town. They home in on pasty-skinned newly arrived Brits like wasps round a jam pot, and you need to be quite assertive in rejecting their advances - assuming you'd rather not be whisked off to view their resort (which is beautiful, to be fair, bit attendantly expensive, too).
Both the old and new resorts are kept clean and the beaches, both man made, are very good, with Amadores being the prettiest and Puerto having more character, with the marina and quayside for added interest/boat/fishing trips.

The location was fantastic being a stone throw away from the beach and having shops at either side and also places to eat. The commercial centre with all the bars, places to eat, shops and night clubs etc. was only about 10 minutes walk. Being our 9th time in Puerto Rico we eat out every night at San Miguel in the commercial centre what a fantastic place, lovely staff and amazing food, yes you have to wait for a table but that obviously says that the place is liked by many. We spend the evenings in Piccadily music bar and Bora Bora both wonderful and the staff are extremely friendly. Taxis are very cheap and can be found at the taxi rank beside the commercial centre and also down the beach or up at the europa centre. There are many men trying to sell you sunglasses, watches, toys etc. this can be annoying but they will try to have a laugh with you. The weather has been amazing every time we have been and this year it was 32 degrees! Big Red the speed boat is 20 euros per child and 30 euros per adult, go on it! you can find it down at the harbour and it is the most amazing experience ever. We were very sad to have to leave this time as it is such a wonderful place.
