The actual apartment itself was lovely. The maintenance staff were lovely. But I can't recommend for a relaxing holiday or enjoyable time by the pool...

The resort has everything and anything you want, in the town.
Most place to eat out are fairly cheap & the drinks are cheap too. Whilst walking through the town the workers from each pub/resturant try and get you to go in the eat or drink, you have to be firm with them and some cannot take no for an answer!
The bar we went to was called Tropicana because it was a welsh bar, what very good nights we had there!! 2 vodka & red bull for 5euros.
The beach was nice, lots to do,glass bottom boats water sports etc.
It is a wonderful place loads to do there & also very hot

The resort is my favourite holiday destination. The hotel is great for families. Entertainment for the children, and then acts, later in the evening. We are not 'beachy' people but i would make an exception for the 'man made' beach you can walk to from outside the Altamar. I will be visiting this resort again.

Cala Nova is situated very close to the bottom of the resort and near to a large shopping complex that hosts over 100 restaurants and bars. They suit all tastes and ages. You do get pestered by waiters but they did accept it if you said no unlike other resorts we had been to.
There is an excellent bus service to the beach and the taxis are easily booked or hailed and are reasonably priced. Drivers we found to be helpful.
Loungers are charged at a rate of 2.5 Euros each and parasols the same for the day.
Beware of touts telling you that you have won a holiday, camera or laptop. These people are just timeshare touts in a new guise. Don't be conned you will be asked to pay £3995 or £6295 if you sign up.
We thought that Puerto Rico was a bit Blackpoolish but we did find some excellent bars and restaurants in the nearby shopping complex.
There are other beaches at Amadores and Mogan. Both are first class. For those who want a bit of class go to Mogan where the beach is really clean and the restaurants are amongst the best we have eaten at in Spain.

The resort was quite clean, and the local beaches nice.
Amadores worth a visit. There was many bars and restaurants serving very nice food, although the touts trying to get you in them became a pain so we avoided the commercial centre at the end of our stay.
There are also lots of timeshare touts on the streets, and some hand out ticket saying you have won a prize, of either a hoilday, a camera, or a laptop. It is a con, you will get holiday vouchers which I couldn't use anyway. Worse than that is all the fake electrical goods in the shops. I bought a JVC digital camera for £150, only to discover they don't actually make them. It is a cheap fake worth about £50. That is why they can afford to haggle right down as they aren't worth much anyway. Do not buy from them no matter how good the deal sounds.
If we had known about these pitfalls we could have had a better holiday but apart from this the resort is nice and also the beaches, lots of excellent food at reasonable prices. Shame about all the sellers that come round every few minutes while you are eating.

As I was holidaying on my own, I can't comment on the entertainment available in resort, as I didn't experience it!
The resort itself is attractive, but very very hilly...anyone with severe mobility problems would not find this suitable. But there are plenty of taxis, and fares are very cheap, the average including tip being approximately 3 euros.
There are two commerical centres, one at the bottom, and the only one I used, the Europa centre at the top. Not the most attractive complex, it consists of gift shops selling the usual tat, a couple of Netto supermarkets and a variety of restaurants. Of the restaurants, Le Chef offers a nice English breakfast for a good price, and the Gran Chinese offers the usual chinese meals, well worth a visit and also very well priced.
The beach at Amadores is stunning, some may sniff as it is man-made, but the facilities offered are first class - plenty of sunbeds, clean changing and toilet facilites, and a nice strip of places to eat and shop.
Not a resort that offers a glimpse of traditional Spanish living, but not as completely tacky as others (Playa de las Americas) The weather for so early in the year was amazing, hot and sunny, in the low 30s most days. For a early break I would highly recommend Puerto Rico.

First time in Porto Rico, we were right at the top, only 3 euro's taxi to the bottom, plenty of restaurants in both places, like wise entertainment.
Good Irish bar in Euro centre.

Something for everyone at this resort but due to hilly location may be difficult for people with mobility problems although taxis cheap and regular.
Very popular rwsort so can get very busy. Temperature at Easter time boiling.
