Best steak house TEX MEX or the American Indian who do a steak in Jack Daniels sauce. Chinese food try The Sunshine. Indian try the one near crazy golf on the front. If you want fish go to old town where the fish come right of the boat into the pan.

Try for South facing appartment. Food in onsite bar is good but loads of local restaurants are a short walk away
All overlook pool upper rooms get more sun on balcony

If you are visiting during the winter months then ask reception for extra warm blankets for the cold nights and also ask for the WiFi code ....
Plenty of food places to try although buffet places charge high costs on soft drinks with your meal ..

The resort is very clean, lots of sunbeds.
Entertainment is very good.
I have been to this resort 8 times and would go back again as soon as I can book it.
I have now purchased 6 weeks timeshare out there.

Fantastic resort, plenty of bars and restaurants which was all I wanted! I only gave the beach a 3 because I never went there sober. I dont do beaches!

Matagorda is a family orientated resort with a good selection of pubs and restaurants.
The supermarkets though are expensive and the restuarants are more expensive than Puerto del Carmen although of course you have to balance this with the cost of taxis to and from P del C. I gave the entertainment a 4 as it does not have any night clubs.
The beach is superb and kept perfectly with life guards all day. There was no airplane noise at our apts but some at the beach and would be more if you went up to Hotel Beatrix Playa.

Having been to Puerto del Carmen on a couple of occasions I would certainly recommend it to couples and families alike, I will certainly be returning.

Puerto del carmen was a really nice resort. Very clean and well paved which was good for walking around at night when it was dark.
Be careful if when you walk around the bar complex area at night (cant remember what it was called - the area where all the main bars are located together) as you will get hounded by people trying to drag you into their bars and they try to force you to buy drinks etc. This is great if you want a mad drinking holiday/nights out, but not good if you want a relaxing night. It really began to annoy me after a while, and we resorted to always walking on the other side of the road!
If you want a good night i would recommend heading to Ceasars. This is the most amazing nightclub/bar i have been to, it beats anything ive been to in britain. It was free to get in when i was there, (bonus!) and you get free shots by the barstaff straight from the bottle into your mouth!
Every hour the girls and guys working dance on the bars and some do a dance routine on the stage which is amazing! this place is a must for your holiday if youre young!
The old town has a fantastic shopping centre with zara and another high street shop (maybe mango, i cant remember) open til 10 at night, which is great. There are many other nice shops, including a gorgeous jewellery shop.
There are restaurants of all types; spanish, italian, english, chinese and indian so suits all people!
i loved this resort, as its not too big, but has everything you need!

The resort was unbelievably clean and we rarely seen any litter. Beach was clean, but watch you don't burn your feet, as the sand heats up!!
Resort was fab, restaurants lovely, plenty to choose from and as said before, a visit to the Music Hall Tavern is a must!! : )
Took a break from Lanzarote this year, but can't wait to return, perhaps in 2007...definately back to Puerto del Carmen!!!

The resort of Puerto Del Carmen is very varied and appeals to all ages. Plenty for the kids to do plus bars and restaurants of all varieties. Lots of shops if you are a shopoholic, some lovely shoe shops.
The trip to the local market in Teguise is a must for bargains. Best market I have ever been to.
Puerto Del Carmen is pretty central to enable you to visit all the other resorts. It also has a harbour (the old town)which has an enbterainment centre and a fair on end July/early August. Playa Blanca is lovely and Costa Teguise is great for watersports.
Lanzarote is a great all rounder and superb weather whatever time of year you visit.

This was our first time to Lanzarote and Puerto del carmen, and I really loved it.
The resort is quite busy and has the usual perfumeries and souvenoir shops and plenty of restaurants and bars. ' Lani's ' is a chain of restaurants which cater for all of you who like Italian, Tex Mex, Indian and steak. There are also plenty of Pizza places and far too many chinese restaurants.
The beach was gorgeous, although you do have to pay for the sunbeds. There are no snack bars on the beach, you have to go on the main road to find all the pubs, food shops. There is a small shopping centre in the old town - it is a fair walk from the appt if you have young children! We used to get a cab on the way back from the beach and it would cost us 2/3 euro's.
All in all a nice family orientated atmosphere with stunning scenery.

Really enjoyed the resort, plenty places to eat and drink. Lots of shops and some good prices if you can find them. Lots of junk shops with the same things in them, shop around before you buy though i saw quite a difference in the price of somethings after a walk about.
The beach was good appeared clean and safe, the water was quite warm. Sunloungers and umberellas for hire also pedelos.
Eating out was quite good, i thought the sweets and ice creams were paticularly good.
Cocktails were good, prices i saw were form 5 euro to
8 euro. Buy one get one free was a bit of a con a though as the drink tasted watered down.
I would recommend "American indian" it's on the front and quite close to Mc Donalds. Specials would be garlic bread and cheese then staek chips and salad for 5 euros, there is a big screen with dvd.s playing and there is a live band evey night, "Question" they are quite good, they appeared quite popular, i enjoyed watching the base players expressions when plucking his strings and also watching the good looking guitar player, he really did know it though. The staff were all really nice and good with kids.
I would visit the resort again, cheap drink in supermarkets. I payed 5 euros 50 for a bacardi breezer in "milligans" and 1 euro 50 in the supermarket!!! The spirits are very cheap as are cigarettes and perfume.
I would definately come here again. I particularly liked the short transfer time from the airport.
