Near the Andorra are a group of bars. Check out The Soul Bar. Also The Restaurant Margarita -really good food. Great music especially by Mikey Mike who works in both places.

The hotel has non stop entertainment. There is always something available to keep you entertained. Every room is in good location.

Avoid booking a studio without stipulating 'NOT FACING THE WALL' as we were allocated a room looking directly at a high wall 12' from our balcony even although we had requested a sea or pool view. Check directly with the hotel well in advance.
All rooms are good in this quite hotel with most having sea views

My top tip is to get the bus from the airport as it stops at the top of the road by Magna Building save on transfers

Beaches
The best beach bar and shops are near to the Mare Nostrum resort, about 10 minutes walk towards Los cristianos.
The grubby end of the resort is around the veronicas area - but you don't need to go there unless you really want to. A short taxi ride takes you to the harbour at Torviscas with all the bars/shops/restaurants if you want a change of scenery.

I am biased as I love this resort. In early March it was fairly quiet, but they all come out for the market on Saturdays and Thursdays!! The streets are kept quite clean except around Veronicas. The beach near the port was immaculate each morning. We went for our silver wedding so I pushed the boat out and we had a meal in La Piramide and then went to watch Fuego y Danza in The Mare Nostrum Resort. Fantastic meal and show, highly recomended for about £75 for the 2 of us. We also went into The Pheasant Plucker Bar which is opposite the Bouganville Hotel most evenings on the way back to the Las Dalias. A good night of entertainment and cheap drinks. The weather was superb and we never had to wear a jacket or cardy at night.
The bar/restaurant PR's are a pain and can be aggresive but we saw no timeshare touts at all. I bought a video camera whilst I was there and believe I got a good deal but beware most of the electronic shops are out oversell their goods. I paid 80 euros for a Mustek DV4000 which sells for around £120 here. It had all the bits and works fine.Fantastic holiday and fantastic weather. Try it you'll like it

Mint! Would definitely go again.

The resort was having a re-vamp when we were there. They have taken a lot of the bars down at veronicas.
Considering when I use to go in 1992 to 1996 there were so many to chooose from but now most of the good oldies have gone including Mrs t's, Tramps, Linikers and Soul Train (boo hoo) but saying that the bars they have been building look a lot better this being a new Whithenspoons and yates.
You can tell money is being spent on the resort to bring it up to scratch especially the parque 111 area where there are now so many fantastic shops and a brilliant mini golf area.
As I've been to the resort 8 times I will never say never to going back but feel in about 4 years time it will look so much better and more up market.

Situated in the Torviscas area of Las Americas, near Playa Fanabe. Much quieter than the main resort but with just as many restaurants, bars and shops. Would rather stay here than in the main centre.
very good, plenty of shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants. Very Clean
I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the resort. Unlike other hot countries we weren't bombarded with flies and/or tripping over rubbish. The roads were clean and it was a pleasant walk down to the beach.
Thomsons offered trips but we did not want to be spending a whole day with a rep who treated us like 10 year olds! Instead we booked our trips with the locals. If you want to see the dolphins and whales I recommend going on the Maxi-Cat. The spanish lady who took us had a great sense of humour and they provided a lovely lunch on board the boat, inclusive in the price. We also departed from a quiet fishing town as opposed to the commercial area that all the tour companies go from. We did a 3 hour trip and were able to have a dip in the sea as well. The booking office was along the parade of shops by the beach.
We also booked a full day excursion around the island and a half day trip to Mount Teide. The spanish really look after you on these trips. You were never bursting for the loo as they included plenty of comfort stops.
Overall, this was an excellent holiday and you certainly get the four star standard from this hotel. I would not hesitate to visit this resort again!

playa de las americas is a lively resort with plent to see and do throughout the day and some good shows at night. the beach is ok did not spend much time on it though. probably would visit resort again.
There was no resort entertainment at all, and although the beach was very close to our apartments it was incredibly busy and dirty and there were not nearly enough umbrellas as there should have been.
Something for everyone from age 1 to 101
