Near the Andorra are a group of bars. Check out The Soul Bar. Also The Restaurant Margarita -really good food. Great music especially by Mikey Mike who works in both places.

All rooms are good in this quite hotel with most having sea views
Avoid booking a studio without stipulating 'NOT FACING THE WALL' as we were allocated a room looking directly at a high wall 12' from our balcony even although we had requested a sea or pool view. Check directly with the hotel well in advance.

Beaches

Playa De Las Americas is the most livliest resorts of the island. There was a number of occasions when there where road works, and a lot of rubble. The beaches are made of ash, but that still didnt put the holiday makers off.
Brilliant resort, worth the money, would visit again.

Veronicas was okay to walk thru' during daylight altho' very dirty and smelly. Thankfully we never saw anything un toward but we didn't venture down that way after 9pm.
This was the first holiday I felt vulnerable walkingout at night with the "lucky lucky" men and women plaiting hair. I just felt very uncomfortably and very aware of possible danger about. Nothing happened to us but we did prefer to walk to Los Cristianos at night as the atmosphere seemed a lot friendlier there.

We were situated in the torviscas area of tenerife. Within this part of the resort the is a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, shops, and a McDonalds on the beach front. There are no clubs as such, the night life consists more of cabaret style artists, and comedians. You should also be aware that there are 'pub reps' outside each resauarant, club etc. in both torviscas and veronicas who try to persuade you to eat / drink in their facility - this got on our nerves towards the end of the holiday!!!
The beach is made of volcanic 'ash' which was kept was very clean, and its colour shouldnt put you off. However, the cost of hiring a sun lounger and umberella were expensive. Be aware of pick pockets in the day and night, and also of prostitution. The resort is quite hilly in some areas, though this is not a problem as the cost of hiring a taxi is reasonable.
The main resort of playa de las americas (veronicas) is only a 5 minute taxi ride away, though takes about 45 minutes to walk there. All in all, the resort is a pleasant place, but avoid staying at the xanadu apartments!!!

The resort didn't look as clean as i would have liked it to be but ur in a different country its expected. We didn't try the entertainment we preferred to go out wandering about trying new things. The beach was fine well what can i say it was good enough to soak up the sun on and let's face it thats why we're here!! I would definitely visit this resort again in fact i already have several times since.

Beach is awful, just black sand and stones. Fantastic for rock pooling though. There is a good variety of shops and restaurants to go to. Los Christianos is a short walk along the beach and Veronica's Strip is close by, but not too close!! Took a trip to the aqua park, had a great day out there. Found a brilliant Netto supermarket about 15mins walk away, all the locals use it, prices are around half of what you would pay in the shops around the hotels.

Been going to Las Americas for last 12 years so knew what I would find. Have always found it to be okay for cleanliness etc.
Have never really frequented Veronicas as its not my scene and I can see lager louts without leaving home. At that time, Veronicas was undergoing huge facelift, so there was a bit of construction work going on.
The beach is black sand, clean and looked after. Plenty of sunbeds (and umbrellas) although you have to pay for them, but for a days comfort 2 euros per bed isn't much.
There's something for everyone entertainment-wise and most people should find something to suit. Whether you are looking for a good restaurant, a quiet cafe, a family pub, nightclub or whatever, you should be able to find what you are looking for. If you don't, then ask and someone will point you in the right direction.
The timeshare touts were always out and about but they are only interested in couples. Best way to get rid of them is to tell them you already own timeshare! They soon leave you after that.
I will be visting Las Americas again (and again and again!)

The beach is very good with a small prom which has a number of bars and resturants .
Just up from the sea front is a path which you can walk along to the next resort (10 mins ) this is an area call Porto del Colon, but dont be put off by the name.On route to this area you will pass many small bars and shops facing the sea , no cars do or could travel along this path its for walking only so safe for the kids etc.
At night time there is enough to do in the immediate area of the Torviscas playa hotel. The moon light bar (or similar named) is nice to sit outside and watch the sun go down.Later this bar has entertainment, Elvis, comedian , singers , etc as do the bars dotted along by the beach. There is enough entertainment to keep you going for at least a week, and if you want to you can take a stroll to Porto del Colon for more of the same.
Its a much better area than Las Americas, leave that for the kids and the touts. No body bothers you here as with Las Americas where the touts are a complete pain. Torviscas playa has more up market hotels and is ideal for a nice winters break.I will be going to this area in Feb 04, unless I find a cheapie to Goa.
Go and enjoy, you will not be dissapointed.
By the way I am 44 years old, young at heart.I think its important to state your age when reviewing because a review written by a 18 year old isnt relevant to a 70 year old.
Cheers

Costa Adeja is a very celan area no litter and no larger louts and most importantaly no TIME SHARE touts. You don't need to venture far to get good shops and restaurants. I would recommend San Marco Italian Restaurant just at the corner of the street. Also the Slow Boat chinese. If you feel like a walk you can always go up Cardiac Hill in Torviscas area to Bill Baileys which is a very good English restaurant (roast beef yorkshire pudding etc.apple pie and custard) we always go every time. Santa Cruz is also worth a visit it takes about 1 hour by local bus.
