Near the Andorra are a group of bars. Check out The Soul Bar. Also The Restaurant Margarita -really good food. Great music especially by Mikey Mike who works in both places.

Avoid booking a studio without stipulating 'NOT FACING THE WALL' as we were allocated a room looking directly at a high wall 12' from our balcony even although we had requested a sea or pool view. Check directly with the hotel well in advance.
All rooms are good in this quite hotel with most having sea views

Las Americas is very busy place with loads of night life. The food is of good quality with a wide variety.
The best entertainment buy far is a little bar called the Spotlight, there you will find a great live band with a good mixture of older and new music, they are on from 10.00pm every night, we went there most nights. I like live bands and these lads who are all Bulgarian, are very talented. Sorry to go on so much about the band, but they made our hoiday.

Playa de las americas is a fairly large resort and spent ages in the evening wandering around, finding different ways back to our hotel. Nice long promenade loads of shops, cafes bars etc. Found a nice clean white sand beach and the sea was surprisingly warm. Overall plenty to do and see and enjoyed it very much.

The hotel was situated up the hill from the beach area. .. which was nothing special. There were four blocks of restaurant/bars (left at beach)each block nearly the same as the one before...boring.The touts(mainly english)that tried to get you in the restaurants were a complete pest...you could not walk along chatting and relaxed, they just wouldnt let you.
If you dont go down the steps to the four block/beach there are 3/4 very nice Restaurants along the top overlooking the sea. They were slightly more expensive but worth it...the staff are very friendly, the food excelleny & you can spend the evening have a nice time there.
There was a Macdonalds further on (past the 4 blocks) and a small Burger King (right at beach).
On the high bit above MacD's were a couple of English type pubs.Further round the Bay past MacD's were bigger more expensive Spanish/Canarian restaurants many similar to each other.
Ther were many Shopping malls 'Centro Commercials' once you had been to one you need not to go to another...it took us visiting about 5 to realise they are all pretty much the same.
The market has no real bargains & is mainly just all you see in the shops but now on a stall and the price the same!
The African ladies & Men are ready to pounce when yu get to the beach area...just dont look at them & catch there eye..if you do say No firmly...show the slightest bit of interest & they follow you..trying to sell you whatever they have and get angry/nasty when you dont buy. We learnt to pass them fast.
The place on the whole lacked something, there was nothing special/original there at all. Everything is the same wherever we went...round every corner was another Centro Commercial. The smaller tourist shop/supermarkets wherever you were , were exactly like the last one. If you go in 1 electrical shop dont bother with the next 20 they are exactly the same...prices too.
The Aquapark is good for the kids, but they do charge for you to sit down,Sun Beds are 3.50 a day each We got just 2 as the kids were of, and once people left they would leave their ticket so we took two tickets so the kids had a bed in the afternoon. DO TAKE your own food & drinks1 A small bottle of water .70 in shops was 2.20 in there, it really is a rip off.
It was nice for a one week holiday.
Personally I wasnt impressed wth the black sand beach...but thats Tenerfie.
The locals are all friendly nice people.

Our hotel was in the nice area of Las Americas, away from the road works!Generally clean.
We had hardly any problems with the "looky looky" people and didnt see any scratchcard touts.
The beach was ok at PDLA,but we only went on it a couple of times.
We will be going back to PDLA,but will try to keep to the Los Cristanos end, thanks

The resort is tired and tacky, the beaches are awful, there are too many street sales people - time share, lucky lucky etc etc and there are so many pickpockets around it is a joke. What are the Police thinking of, we didn't see any walking around where people were being robbed in broad daylight and at night, ourselves included. The pavements are caked in dried up vomit and the rubbish bins are overflowing, but this is typical Playas de las Americas. Hire a car and leave the coastline where you will find a real beautiful island with history, greenery, culture and tranquility and very friendly local people.
