Near the Andorra are a group of bars. Check out The Soul Bar. Also The Restaurant Margarita -really good food. Great music especially by Mikey Mike who works in both places.

Avoid booking a studio without stipulating 'NOT FACING THE WALL' as we were allocated a room looking directly at a high wall 12' from our balcony even although we had requested a sea or pool view. Check directly with the hotel well in advance.
All rooms are good in this quite hotel with most having sea views

Las Americas in absolutely amazing! The nightlife is fantastic! You have to visit Jacks Bar to start of the night with a few cheap drinks and then go to Down Under Bar, Rags and Tramps where the drinks are not that dear! There is plenty to do during the day aswell with the Booze Cruise, Catamaran, AquaPark, SkyPark and Shopping Centre. I would really recommend Las Americas to anyone as it caters for all ages!! I liked it so much I am going back next year with my friends!

The resort of Costa Adeje is lovely, plenty of bars and resaurants. You can make it as quiet or lively as you want. Watch out for timeshare touts with scratch cards though and bar touts can get quite annoying. May sound rude for us Brits but just say your not interested and walk away. The beach was ok, they'd had torrential downpours before we arrived and washed the man made beach away so it was volcanic sand, only wet twice as we are pool people really.
The waterpark was great (salt water) and the dolphin show here is free and fabulous.
All in all you can't go wrong here, there is definately something for everyone.
We enjoyed it that much we are buying an apartment either here or in Los Christianos which is also worth a visit and doesn't cost much in a taxi.

Playa de las Americas has something for everyone. We stayed in the Aquapark area back in 2000, and weren't impressed with the big hill and the isolated feel of those apartments, but our week in August 2005 was much better - I would highly recommend any hotel in the Mare Nostrum/Parque Santiago area (where Las Americas merges with Los Cristianos), it's all flat, much more family-friendly and so much nicer.
The shops are wonderful, if you're a dedicated shopper then be prepared to flex your plastic! Designer shops, perfume stores, shoes, bags, you name it, they've got it, in a design/colour you won't find at home!
Tenerife is a lovely island, and Las Americas has plenty of agents who'll sell you excellent trips around various parts of the island. We used a lovely agent just down the side of the Vulcano Hotel.
We went on a trip over to La Gomera (the distant cloudy lump you can see across the sea) This trip included the Fred Olsen ferry crossing, a guided coach tour of La Gomera and a good Canarian lunch and was very reasonably priced.
We went on another trip which combined a photo stop at the base of Mount Teide with a four hour stop at Loro Parque in the north. If you've never been to Tenerife before then you really need much longer than four hours in Loro Parque, but it was adequate for us, just to remind ourselves how beautiful it is.
We also went on the Freebird Catamaran, which goes from Puerto Colon harbour in Las Americas. The idea of this trip is 'dolphin-spotting' but you'll be very lucky to see any dolphins. The Pilot Whales always come out to play though, so take your camera for this one, but be prepared to feel a bit 'green' after bobbing around on what is nothing more than a giant trampoline in the middle of the ocean for three hours!!!
Las Americas has a huge variety of pubs, bars and clubs to suit all ages, and a great choice of restaurants too. It would be a great shame to holiday in Las Americas and spend your entire time at your hotel!
The beach nearest to our hotel was lovely (the one near the Mare Nostrum/Mediterranean Palace Hotels) It was clean and great fun for kids of all ages.
We went in August and this seems to be the worst time of the year for cockroaches. They were the size of a small mouse, and one of them was actually sat on my arm one night! Most nights we went out I would carefully tuck my skirt around my legs when I was sitting down! If you don't look too hard for them you won't see them, but if you let yourself get paranoid it can really ruin your holiday.
Now I know Las Americas better I would definitely recommend it for a great holiday, just make sure you know which area your hotel is in before you book!
