Near the Andorra are a group of bars. Check out The Soul Bar. Also The Restaurant Margarita -really good food. Great music especially by Mikey Mike who works in both places.

All rooms are good in this quite hotel with most having sea views
Avoid booking a studio without stipulating 'NOT FACING THE WALL' as we were allocated a room looking directly at a high wall 12' from our balcony even although we had requested a sea or pool view. Check directly with the hotel well in advance.

Beaches

Playa de Las Americas is a lively resort with great entertainment for people of all ages.
The beaches have a greyish sand colour and they are cleaned daily, 6 euros for two sunbeds well worth it for a comfortable day at the beach

Would go back to Las Americas again, lovely place with nice beaches (natural and man made) and a very nice harbour. Lots of bars and restaurants there which should cater for anyone.
People there seems generally friendly.
Mount Teide is about 90 mins trip from there. We hired a car as the bus trips leave quite early in the morning. One thing though, if you go to Mount Teide, the cable car, which is the only way to the very top, is 20€ per person, which seemed quite excessive, as that's more expensive than the cost of the bus trip or car hire to get there.

The resort was mainly geared up for couples and groups, I would say it's ok for families, but towards later time in the evening maybe not.
For night life go to Veronica's! Main night club being Tramps. Watch out for people trying to drag you into their restaurants, and men selling sunglasses and watches they can be very persuasive!

On the whole the resort was clean and pleasantly attractive.
On the entertainment side....although we didn't really investigate it to any degree (ours was a holiday to relax and recuperate), it was evident that the resort catered entertainment for all ages from the very young to the...well how old do you need to be to stop having fun lol
The beach was ok where we were but very rocky but on our many walks we did see many beaches that were a typical sandy beach so every one can find some place they like.
One thing we encountered every single day when we were out and about were the timeshare reps. It seemed that no matter where we went on our walks, there they were.
Beware - they can be very persistant. We learnt to say a firm NO and keep walking because enter into ANY form of chat with them and they see it as an invitation. You've been warned!!!

Right on the edge of Both Los Cristianos and Las Americas and so there is definitely something for everyone here!
We only went on the beach once as my youngest (aged 6) got totally covered in sand from head to foot and although it looks golden and light the sand is infact very dark! My daughter had a light pink cossie on and we just threw it away as it would never have come clean.
The PR's are a bit of a pain but you just nod and accept the menu leaflets of you are interested of say a polite no thank you if you arent, there are a few who follow you half way down the road practically begging you to go in but the majority are fine.
Times share people/scratchcarders/markets trips people were very definitely much more low key, last time we were there in Los Cristianos we were stopped several times a day and people would jump out of cars to stop us, but we were stopped twice in the whole holiday, so that was much better.

As we did not venture out of the hotel complex very much, we did not see a lot of Playa de las Americas! But what we saw we were certainly impressed with and will definitely return.

Loads to do, most bars along sea front have tribute bands/singers, Elvis, buddy holly, Neil diamond, and the royal has tribute comedians, Billy Connelly, Freddie Starr.
Found the food cheap, loads of Chinese rest, eat as much as you want for 5.50 euros, merlins being the best one for choice.
Very lively, only thing spoiling it is people handing out fliers and hassling us to go in their bars/restaurants. A firm no will usually do though, and watch out for timeshare, tell them police are on their way and they will soon scarper.
Beach was volcanic, and some were nigh on impossible to get past the rocks into the sea. There are a few coves on the way to adeje which were probably the only ones you could get directly into the sea from, but the hire of sun beds varied from beach to beach and could be quite expensive. Some bars ripped us off, these tended to be the Irish ones where a pint of Guinness would set you back about 6 euros.
Playa de las Americas was massive and we didn’t get to see all of it in our 2 week stay, we will definitely go back again in a couple of years.
Oh,if you get the chance to go to los cristianos look out for the millionaires hotels on the beach front, they have statues in the grounds and look like Egyptian palaces, how the other half live!

This part of the Playas is now well past its sell by date. Some areas, especially the Veronicas for example, could really do with a make-over. On the whole, the pavements are dirty and uneven, and never appear to be swept. The roads are in an apalling state. I thought the roads in England were bad, but they have nothing on this part of Tenerife! With all,the revenue that comes in every year, they do not appear to spend anything of it on repair and maintenance. However, the new area of del Duque is well worth a visit. It is stunning, very clean and tidy. Far more 'up-market'.
The standard of the beaches does vary. The best of them are the Fanabe and the del Duque.
All that said, I / we will be back in the near future.
