Near the Andorra are a group of bars. Check out The Soul Bar. Also The Restaurant Margarita -really good food. Great music especially by Mikey Mike who works in both places.

Avoid booking a studio without stipulating 'NOT FACING THE WALL' as we were allocated a room looking directly at a high wall 12' from our balcony even although we had requested a sea or pool view. Check directly with the hotel well in advance.
All rooms are good in this quite hotel with most having sea views

Beaches

La vistas beach was excellent, far better than Americas beach. Resort was good with plenty of choices of restaurants, bars and entertainment.

This resort is mostly geared up for the younger crowd who start the night after 10pm. When we went it was hard to find anywhere without a TV showing football and it seemed to be on all day.
The real nightlife starts at 11pm and just goes on and on. Entertainment was varied from singers, copy cat acts, dancers, snake shows, and lots of Kareoke. If you want a quieter time - stick to the outskirts.
Very tourist orientated so don't look for local culture or food. That said, the food quality is in general very good and reasonable variety but pretty much the same as you can get in the UK (only cheaper).
The beach seemed ok but we generally stayed at the pool. No piles of litter and plenty of bins, these did tend to be overflowing in the morning after all the party people had gone to bed, but they did get emptied.
Loads of the usual banking facilities and shops/supermarkets catering for the UK so if you want your Sun newspaper every day and if Heinz Beans are essential, you will find them here.

Las Americas is a great place to stay - very clean, the beaches are really nice and kept very clean by the local council.

A lovely resort with enough to do without been too rowdy, watch out for the many timeshare/scratch card people who try to get you "win" on tickets and collect your prize, beware because its a con. There are loads and loads of bars english/indian/italian/chinese places to eat, and all very clean. The beach we never went to but it seemed very clean. A nice area and will be going back again next year.

We stayed in Las Americas at the coral beach, we have visited tenerife nine times and will be back again next year.
One of our favourite bars is the four seasons on the beach front in the patch's area run by Alan, Pauline and gemma from Stockport if you go in say Brian and Mary sent you.

Very enjoyable stay in Playa de las Americas.
This resort has something for everyone and is in close proximity to Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje if you want to visit somewhere else also.
All in all, good value for money to be had and will definitely return soon.

The resort seemed quite clean but a few nasty niffs coming from the drains on the odd occasion, it was red hot so couldnt really moan too much.
There seemed to be a lot of cockroaches about, some in the hotel room, but this is only to be expected. There are plenty of tribute acts on in and around this resort, Elvis, Neil Diamond, Ronan Keating, Meatloaf, Freddie Starr to name but a few (Neil Diamond is brilliant!),and plenty of bars with entertainment.
The beach is volcanic so lots of areas are quite rocky, the beach near the marina is one of the best, and further along in Los Cristianos there are some nice beaches, but dont wear a good swimsuit to go to the beach,it will come back black!
Been to Tenerife before and cant fault the weather other than it was a bit too hot for me, 30 degrees in the shade, would definately go back again but armed with very high factor sun cream!

Playa de las Americas is such a nice place, its just the empty run down buildings that spoil it. For example where the beach bar,KFC and Pizza Hut used to be last year has got all the windows smashed which looks awful, they need tidying up.
Also outside the main bars and clubs are terrible,it smells of sick and urine near them.
The beach isnt as nice as Los Cristianos because its stoney and black in most places.
There are loads of shops when you can find them!all designer ones and electrical shops also souvenir shops.
This time around we werent bothered by the lookie lookie men so much, there didnt seem to be as many as there was last year and the same with the hair braiding ladies. The worst problem was the English timeshare people, trying to fool you into a free scratch card, they didnt take no for an answer and chased you up the street until they finally got the message. They only really approach the 25 and overs, but dont let them spoil your holiday we didnt we had a better holiday than last year.
Better weather too, scorching 32 degrees plus all week.I will definately go back for a third holiday maybe in a year or so because we have got other plans for 2007.
Happy holidays.

The resort was clean and tidy. plenty of entertainment we especially liked the Manhattan Bar, the staff were great and the entertainment different every night. The beach was clean and plenty of sun loungers with a parasol, for a very reasonable 3 euros a day. Definitely return to the resort,in fact i can hardly wait.

We found PDLA to be equally as good, if not better, than 4 years ago. The choice of bars and restaurants is excellent with something for everyone. Old favourites like Soul Suite still as good, with new ones like Jazzissimo more upmarket and worth a visit for the cheese straws canapes alone! The music in here was great but it only gets going after midnight.
The Safari Centre has some fantastic shops with an excellent choice. The fountains are just lovely to watch whilst enjoying an after dinner cocktail in Harry's Bar - well recommended.
