Near the Andorra are a group of bars. Check out The Soul Bar. Also The Restaurant Margarita -really good food. Great music especially by Mikey Mike who works in both places.

Avoid booking a studio without stipulating 'NOT FACING THE WALL' as we were allocated a room looking directly at a high wall 12' from our balcony even although we had requested a sea or pool view. Check directly with the hotel well in advance.
All rooms are good in this quite hotel with most having sea views

Beaches

Playa las Americas is a typical holiday resort, every type of bar and food available, but as Tenerife is basically "a mountain" coming out of the sea, as far as we were concerned it was a nice walk down, but a taxi back (3/5 euros) to Island Village.

The resort of playa de las americas is very good. The resort could be a lot cleaner though and footpaths need to be updated as these are falling apart. There is loads to do in pdla with things to do for people of all ages. The beaches are very clean and the water is quite warm and clean also.I like playa de las americas and would like to visit it again one day

There are some very nice hotels in this area, it is very flat & easy to get around, very wheelchair friendly.
The area is quite clean, there are some good british bars all offering very good entertainment, beaches are not too bad, local people very friendly.
I would come back to this resort, but probably self catering, there are plenty of places to eat & the prices are very good.

Although thotel we stayed in was advertised as Playa D L A, it was really in Los Cristianos, however, that said, both resorts have almost actually merged into one. Most areas are clean and well kept but I found Veronicas Strip area tatty and disappointing.
The beaches are clean and loungers (9 euros for two + parasol)are plentiful. the sea was clean, although I couldn't guarentee te quality of the water by the harbour where the big ferries dock.
There are some nice shopping arcades, with goods to suit all tastes and purses and most are open until 9pm or later.
Loads of nice resteraunts (Cocktails-Little Italy & Coconut Joes, especially) everything from English to Mongolian & Back, all sensibly priced
Highlight of the holiday was a trip up El Teide to watch the sun go down OVER the clouds and a 'scuba scooter' trip
Unsure if I would visit this resort, or Tenerife again, as like Veronicas Strip, it seems a bit dated and in need of a refurbishment.

The area where Vulcano Hotel is situated ( Arona ) is by far the most sought after location in Playa De Las Americas. This is a clean , bright and up market area. Safe for walking at all times. Good selection of accomodation and entertainment establishments.
Don't wander to far west or you encounter the Veronicas Area which is in need of a face lift.

Playas de Las Americas is the best place to stay in Tenerife, if you're away with a young family. It's clean, has lots of choice to eat, drink etc and has many taxis, should you want to go to Los Cristianos etc. The major complaint I had with Playas was the beach. In need of great attention. But when you've a pool like I did at the Oro Blanco, who needs a beach?

There is plenty to do in Puerton Colon, Torviscus and the Fanabe area loads of bars, restraunts and widely varied entainment. The meals were mostly very good at very reasonably prices, breakfasts from 1.50 euros and evening meals at around 8 euros for 3 courses. Beer is 1 euro in most places till 1800 then is from 1.5 to 3 euros at night, mixer drinks from 2 to 5 euros depending on local or branded and type of bar. Please be careful when going into the sea as there are some rocks and large stones at the right side of the beach, the left side is ok and is reasonably gentle sloping.
Please be very aware of the touts on the promande and in the streets as they offer scratchcards which all seem to be winners, they say they are not time share, which is true but you have to join their holiday club which costs between £3000 and £8000. Then the holiday can cost up to twice the price of the high street when adding up the hidden charges, yearly maintenence plus weekly charges at the hotel, flights and taxi fares.
We will definately be going to La Pinta again soon as we had a brillant holiday.

I thought the resort was very nicely kept, although the area around the hotel Sol is one of the older areas, so some places looked tatty. Walking towards Los Christianos some of the roads are being semi-pedestrianised so looked clean and new, as did the shopping centres along that way. I saw very few coackroaches!
The entertainment was excellent. There seemed to be something for everyone, and for all ages. The choices for excursions were huge, and the couple I took were good value for money. There was a wide range of restaurants serving good cheap food, and the more expensive ones with lovely menues. A lot of the restaurants had live music early on in the evening. This seemed to stop at around midnight when all the night clubs and discoes became busy.
The beaches I visited all had plenty of sunbeds and parasols, were clean and had plenty of bins around. The lifeguards were in attendance all day
I definitely would visit this resort again!!
