The actual apartment itself was lovely. The maintenance staff were lovely. But I can't recommend for a relaxing holiday or enjoyable time by the pool...

The local shopping centre, the Europa is a small complex filled with restaurants, pubs and electrical shops. I was soon to find that this was a microcosm for Gran Canaria. The best restaurants here were the Amadeus, which had one of the best sirloin steaks I have ever tasted and Le Chef whose seafood was terrific.
The reason the location of the complex was a problem is that the main Centre Commercial is at the bottom of the hill. There is a taxi ride required and if you are like the other reviewers on this site this will cost you 3E each way. I, however, am too embarrassed not to leave a tip so it was 10 E a night for my family, about 100 E for 2 weeks. The Centro Commercial is a vast shopping centre comprised off, again, restaurants, pubs and electrical shops. The PR for the restaurants are incredibly annoying after a few nights as you are literally verbally assaulted every 5 metres by desperate PR staff. The prices in the complex for food was not that reasonable either, however if you shopped around you could find a bargain.
The pubs in the Centre Commercial varied in quality and price. The best pub we found was called 'The Nag's Head' and was located at the back of the complex on the 3rd floor. Run by Alan and Val, this was a friendly, reasonably priced pub with entertainment and a Wii.
The waterpark at Maspalomas was dirty and expensive, and definitely not worth the money. I hired a car and found Gran Canaria to be a smelly, desolate and windy place which is dominated by shopping centres, all with exactly the same shops. I found it lacking in culture and I found the locals to be an unfriendly bunch when they weren't looking for money or selling you anything.

didnt go to the beach much as we had young kids with us who didnt want to walk all the way down the hill,
the beach is lovely, with some nice places to eat,
very hilly so if you have trouble walking etc maybe this resort would nt suit you,

The resort is very clean however the commercial centre is looking tired but still remains very clean. The beach we only gave a quick visit to with the intensions of returning later in the week however we ran out of time but what we saw the beach is lovley. The entertainments team were brill realy made our holiday especially Stuart and Daz, there was the usual bingo which of course we participated unfortunatly did not win got close tho. There is plenty of entertainment within the resort for all age groups from dining out in the numerous resturants to having a drink in one of the many bars to dancing the night away! A must is the Mogan market the port of Mogan is lovley and there's some bargains to be had in the market.Buses are very accsesable between the different resorts we enjoyed it that much we are returning in Sept.

I didnt like this resort at all. I hated the fact that everything was in the commercial centre and missed the atmosphere of nice little coffee shops and eating places along the roads, also very hilly , I wouldnt return.

Plenty of resturants and bars. very cheap to eat out. ideal for a relaxing holiday. Plenty of boat trips and a nice coastal walk to Amadores.

The second time to this resort and is still a favourite for our family. Cleaniless is our only issue but overall a great place to visit. Some people complained about the dreaded time share people. Honestly they are there but if you just say "not interested" they will leave you alone.

Puerto Rico is a lively resort if that is what you are looking for. Much preferred the beach at Amadores, however there is a lot more choice of bars & restaurants in PR. If you are looking for something a bit classier than the drag you in and eat as much as you can places then head for the restaurants around the first Marina ie just before the coastal path to Amadores. The restaurants up stairs are first class and can definitely recommend the Chinese, Greek & Indian. Strange didn't see any true Spanish restaurants around here.
Beach was OK but got very busy and was a bit murky with oild etc., from the Marina.
We stayed along the coastal path, half way between Amadores and PR - an ideal location as we had the best of both worlds within 5 or 6 minutes walk.
