The actual apartment itself was lovely. The maintenance staff were lovely. But I can't recommend for a relaxing holiday or enjoyable time by the pool...

Been back to this resort 3 times now & love it nothing realy has changed since our first time visting 7 years ago, everyone is friendly and a great place for families, quite lively in the summer but we normally go at the begining of the season or at the end when its a bit quieter. Tips about the water parks we have visited both and found Maspolomas to be the better of the two.

This was the first time we had been to the Canary Islands - we normally go to small greek island resorts. We knew from friends and family that Puerto Rico would be massively built up, we were prepared for that, and it made a change for us to visit somewhere different but the main thing we were a bit shocked at was the commercial area! What a mess! Not our cup of tea at all. All scruffy bars and naff music - although on saying that I suppose if you like that sort of thing it's certainly all there, you can pick could get anything you want (and some things you probably DON'T WANT!!) It was particularly annoying to walk past the place and have people trying to drag you in the restuarants. We probably wouldn't have minded trying one out one night but it got on your nerves being pestered so we steered clear. We walked round the bay to Amadores or got the bus to Puerto Mogan nearly every day and walked back again in the evening to Amadores to eat - beautiful!!! We did eat at Puerto Rico one night in a restuarant by the harbour which was very nice, but there aren't many nice chilled-out places to eat in Puerto Rico. We would definitely go back to Gran Canaria but stay in Amadores or Puerto Mogan. To sum up the commercial centre - it's painted poo brown!! Enough said!!

We last visited Puerto Rico in 97 and 98 and to our surprise little has changed. The resort lies in a valley and is very good looking-no tower blocks here!
Make sure if you book that you know were your accomadation is located. The resort is split in two with a lower and upper half. The main shops (and beach Obviously!) are located in the lower half. The upper half also has a small shops and bar complex, but you will need taxis to ferry you up (and maybe down).
We ate at Restaurant San Miguel in the main centre. This is located halfway down on the left. Whilst not a top notch restaurant it was always full. Many of the other eating places were less than half full so Restaurant San Miguel must be doing something right.
A meal for 2 with drinks and ice cream came to 20 Euros.
Market at Port Morgan on a Friday just up the coast. Go on the ferry boats to it as it takes around 25 mins to get there and is also cheaper than the holiday company trips.
Port Morgan is very pretty so take a Camera.
A nice walk fron Puerto Rico is along the coast path to Ammodres beach. this will take around 20 mins, again great for pictures.

Lots to do, many friendly people and places to visit. Plenty of happy hour pubs.
Steak in El Torro was excellent as was the swordfish.
Parascending was excellent. Beaches clean and tidy, Amadores beach and sea was wonderful.
Submarine in Puerto Mogan well worth a trip, as is the friday market.
Worst part of the holiday was the timeshare people annoying you every time you walked to the beach. they soon learnt we weren't playing ball though!
Already booked to go back in January :-)
