The actual apartment itself was lovely. The maintenance staff were lovely. But I can't recommend for a relaxing holiday or enjoyable time by the pool...

The resort of Puerto Rico is a lively place with lots to do for everybody. There is 2 centres of entertainment the shopping centre in lower PR and the Europa centre up at the top of the hill which is a lot smaller and quieter which we prefered. Wherever you walk in Puerto Rico as a family you will get hassled by time share sellers or the lucky lucky men selling sunglasses etc. you also get approached by every single restaurant or bar after your custom. Having said that nearly everybody you meet is very welcoming and friendly. The sandy beach is excellent and clean with lots of bars and restaurants surrounding it.

We enjoyed this resort and the only time we got hassled by timeshares was when we went into Playa de Ingles for the day.
Only went to the Europa centre once as was smaller than Puerto Rico shopping centre and would say that shopping centre has better entertainement.
We did work out if you didnt want hassled by restaurant touts - all you had to do was suck a lollypop & they thought you had already eaten.
We found M&M bar great as the drink is very cheap but we spend most of our time in the Highlander Bar mainly because it was a Glasgow Rangers Football pub and the staff were all friendly.
Also recommend trip to Puerto Morgan on Friday for the markets. We went there on the bus but came back on the boat which was a lot better.

Down near the habour every time we went there the was a slight mell of sewage.
This put us off from eating t any of th restaurants around there. You can walk from the harbour at Puert Rico to Ammadores beach it takes around 15 mins with small chldren.
We found tht it was cheaper to eat out at the Europa centre, were we found the best chinese in town.

First time in puerto rico. It is good for restaurants and the beach is fairly big and not overcrowded (we stayed in october 2006). Went on 2 excursions- sioux city and palmitos park although Sioux City was definatley the best. You will love it if you like country music, line dancing or just want a great night out! there are shows with the cowboys and indians live music and line dancing. great. Aqualand also looks really good. It has a whooping 32 diferent slides! A quiet resort (we stayed in october 2006) but defeinately a great holiday.

Love Puerto Rico. The beach is spotless and the beds and shades are reasonably priced at 7 euro per day for two beds and a shade. Amadores Beach is idyllic and the restaurants located there are excellent.

This was our first visit to Gran Canaria, and we stayed at Peurto Rico. We really enjoyed our time here, plenty to do and see. The excursions that we went on where well worth it. Our hotel was situated really close to the bottom of the mountains entertainment shopping centre, but only 3 euros to the Europa at the top in a taxi. We mainly ate out, and had no complaints about any of the food or pubs. There was loads to do for young children as well as adults and teens. I will return to Peurto Rico with all my children in the near future. Not great for elderly or disabled due to stairs and hills etc, but where we stayed, there was lift access and lots of ramps.

There is a complex 100 meters up the road from the Corona Rosa called Aquasol and this we discoverd has a pool 3 times the size, a larger poolside bar area mush better laid out. They have entertainment on Monday and Wednesday. They also boast that they serve imported English food (what's English about Curry and Rice and why, on an island that is has it's own fishing industry do they served Captain Birds Eye like batterd fish out of packet). We spent the last 3 days at this pool. They offer the best English breakfast on the island at 4.75 Euros. 2 Sausage, 2 Bacon, 2 Eggs, Mushrooms, Tomato, Slice Of Toast + Juice.
The Europa center offers a diversity of Bars/Restaurants and shops. Some are very good and we have a few good meals there. It did get annoying that I could not stop and look at a menu without some idiot who would not take no for an answer trying to force me into the establishment.
There are a few good restaurants down at the bottom of the steps on the other side and we had a couple of meals down there.
We were warned about Time share sellers but after a double encounter with one - who had to be told quite harshly to sod off - we had no bother.
Down by the harbour there is a very nice Irish Bar - Flannigans Apple - that has musical entertainment every night from 10. Went in a few times.
Took a ferry to Port Mogan (20 Euros return with a warm cup of Sangria offered on each leg of the journey). This is worth a visit, especially on Fridays as therre is a market. A beautiful fishing town.
We found the locals in the supermarkets and taxis to lack basic courtesy. I appreciate a small amount of courtesy from those who I am polite to especially as the local economy appears to be totally dependant on tourism.
