The actual apartment itself was lovely. The maintenance staff were lovely. But I can't recommend for a relaxing holiday or enjoyable time by the pool...

The resort was quite clean and tidy, although there was a lot of roadworks going on so this made it difficult to push the pram in and out of roadworks.
The entertainment was better in the Puerto Rico Shopping Centre. I'd recommend going to the very top floor if you're looking for more family orientated bars as they do karaoke, quizes, bingo etc up there. Definately recommend going to see the drag show. It's something the whole family can watch. If you are a Hull fc fan go to the Oasis bar on the top floor! They were very welcoming and friendly to us.
The beach was ok. We travelled to see anfi beach but don't be fooled by the reps, it's not as startling as what they make out, plus you end up getting roped into seeing timeshare apartments.

The resort was fairly clean but there are some roadworks going on.

Puerto Rico was a good resort. The only thing that really lets it down is the people who harass you to go in their bars or restaurants.
Theres plenty of entertainment at the local centres and the beaches are nice.

Puerto Rico is a nice resort if you are not looking for luxury. The beach at Amadores is better than the one at Puerto Rico. We stayed in the same resort 10 years ago and unfortunately nothing seems to have changed much. We stayed at the top end of Puerto Rico and the entertainment is basic but if you travel down to the main part it has a larger selection of bars and restaurants. This is a 20 minute walk or about 3euros in a taxi.

The resort is packed but really pretty. Most accommodation is on two hills with the centre on the flat in the middle. There's lots to do with great restaurants, mini-golf, supermarkets, shops and lively bars. We particularly enjoyed Linekars Bar and the restaurants up top. Netto has everything you need and is cheap. I highly recommend you try the local Honey Rum as it's lovely and a good meal is very good value - I loved the steak and salads.
I've been here twice and it deosn't dissapoint. ery clean, well maintained, friendly locals, not much bother from timeshare people and generally a nice atmosphere.

Ive been to Puerto Rico 5 times now, I love it, its for families couples and if your single and want to dance all night it can facilitate you also. Although it is very hilly which doesnt bother me at all for €3 you can get a taxi down to the centre. It is very clean and people always so friendly. Just one fault and everywhere has them.... thats the del boys .... trying to sell you sunglasses necklaces is a bit annoying, but everywhere has them.

Loads to do in Puerto Rico.
Plenty of eating / drinking places, some brilliant some poor.
Lots of 'tacky' shops if you like that kind of thing (cheap souveniers etc.) Beware of sellers trying to sell camcorders for 40 Euros - don't buy them!
Timeshare reps etc. a pain in the backside in resort - just keep walking & say no thanks otherwise you'll spend half your holiday listening to them prattle on. Pity the authorities don't do anything about them - it must deter people from coming back to the resort.
Beach is brilliant but the Amadorres beach 20 mins walk around the corner is even better with plenty of eating places.
Main commercial centre good for eating if you find the best places - just look where people are queing to get in.
Couple of good British pubs in commercial centre worth visiting - Lineker's and The Highlander - friendly staff & if you are hot go to The Highlander - air con must be working overtime - it is so cool in the bar & all the staff we met were Scots.
Would go to this resort again but would carry a bill board labelled 'Timeshare reps etc. approach at own risk'

must say both centres looked clean the only problem at these centres are the resturants, at every one someone tries to get you to eat in them & is very annoying in the end we used to say sorry we have a table booked & they left you alone the best we found is upstairs of the big centre Steak House Bonanza it was great. Never really went to the bars but they looked good.

Nice clean resort...plenty going on but nothing in your face. Well maintained beach although no lifeguards.
Good family beach aprt from that.
Nice restaurants wherever you go...lovely Greek one upstairs opp the beach near the dive centre.

This is the second time we have visited peurto rico but the first with children. We found some areas of the resort not very clean in paticular the area around the childrens play park between mcdonalds and the beach. The drains where pretty smelly too at times. Two main areas of entertainment on the resort are The Europa and the shopping centre both have plenty of bars and resturants with most bars putting on some sort of entertainment. W ewould reccomend resturants "San Maguel" and "elTorro" both of which are in the shooping centre. All of the resturants offer very similar menus and the dearest is not always the best.
Peurto rico has to beach areas within walking distance the one directly in Peurto rico and the one at amedorus - people where going on about the beach at amedorus being fantastic- yes it looked great with the white sand but is was more like crushed stones ( gravel). If you can take yopurself to the beaches a t Maspalomas and visit the sand dunes in our opinion this is the best beach area but you will need transport to get there.
We would visit the resort again but probably without the kids - If going to gran canaria again with kids we would probably stay in Maspalomas as it seemed more family friendly.
