The actual apartment itself was lovely. The maintenance staff were lovely. But I can't recommend for a relaxing holiday or enjoyable time by the pool...

Puerto Rico is a very outdated resort in need of a face lift. The shopping centre(s) consist the most tackiest shops all crammed into one space. Loads of restaurants all trying to get you inside which after a couple of days really gets on your nerves.
Beach area looks lovely (or so we thought) when one of our party was bathing human faeces was floating in the water. That was the last time we went in there!
Buses are expensive and the children are charged the same price as adults to ride. Went on a boat ride which worked out much cheaper and more enjoyable.
Really disappointed with Puerto Rico and Gran Canaria in general wouldn't go back and definetely wouldn't recommend it.

Access to the centre is better by taxi as it only cost 3 euros and takes a matter of minutes .
Once there you can look round the harbours or go to the various shops bars or restuarants that are all over.
A good trip to take is to Mogan by ferry.

I did't really need to leave the apartment often but when i did i found Puerto Rico to be quite a nice place with a good variety of bars/restaurants- go to the EL TORO for a delicious steak! There are plenty of shows to watch as Freddie Starr, A good mini golf course and a nice Mcdonalds.
If you can, take a trip to Maspalomas the next resort which is even nicer.

the europa center was ok barbacoa is good with lots of free entertainment but the drinks very over priced. but they do great english breakfasts 4.50 euro. its only a short taxi ride to the commerical center 3euro, which is alot better loads more to do. but please be aware of the touts, but if you can visit anfi del mar its absolutaly fab its a time share but theres no hard sale, get you lunch free and drinks. they give you a tour around the island the views r spectacular. over all the resort is fab.

Peurto rico is lovely, albeit a bit hilly. The walk to the beach is nice, the walk to Amadores beach is even nicer and well worth it.
The ocean was clear and blue and it is possible to snorkel in the sea with all the marine fish.
Most of the entertainment is in Peurto Rico centre which is close to the Monaco, plenty of bars, shops, restaurants, amusement arcades and internet cafes

We all really liked Puerto Rico although it is very hilly. Having said that the taxi's are very frequent and quite cheap. There are some good places to eat in the Europa Centre (at the top of the hill) and the Barbacoa is great for entertainment. In the bottom shopping centre, La Fiesta is brilliant for family entertainment.
I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone.

Puerto Rico is a fun resort and excellent for children. It has clean beaches and a large shopping area. There are watersports available at the main beach. The beaches are very clean but also very busy and watch out for the tide which comes in very fast!!! The water is shallow and suitable for families with children. There are a lot of locals and Spaniards on the beach too. There are 2 beaches (one is a manmade coral beach) and they are within walking distance.
There are many places to eat although many have adopted 'English food' and during lunch time there is a distinct smell of grease and frying oil! There are lots of bars and clubs open till late every night although some of these are not very busy. Don't fall for the 'free' cocktails you are offered as these are just fruit juice!!! Also waiters will bring your drinks and then keep your change so be careful.
Drinks are very expensive we paid £3 for half a lemonade in one bar! Drinks are ok as long as they are buy one get one free. If not go somewhere else and watch out later in the evening when the promotions stop but the prices stay very high.
The resort is not full of 18-30's and is much quieter than other resorts but is still lively enough with the clubs open until early morning. Taxis and buses are cheap so it is always possible to go for a night out at another resort.
Much of the resort is very commercial and English so do make an effort to visit other parts of the island. Jeep Safari takes you up into the mountains for breathtaking views, there is the market at Mogan and the Sahara sand dunes at Maspalomas are a must.

Puerto Rico has something for everybody, no matter what age you are.Watersports, a lido, a clean safe beach, plenty of amusements for children and dozens or restaurants and shops.
The beach was cleaned each day and the water was safe for all.
Quite a few of the restaurants had free entertainment in the evenings, which was a bonus.

Very good, apart from the people outside restaurants trying to pull you in, and the 'looky looky' men. usually very busy at night

Puerto Rico is what you make it.
The water park in Puerto Rico is only a 5 minute walk if you do this cut through the terraza mar suites you will need the card to your door to come back this way if you walk all the way around its about 15mins.
A taxi would only be about €2.00. To get in the water park it is €20 for adults and €14 for children its only small but did us so dont expect much. The nightlife reall was aimed at the adults not really much for children apart from trampolines the europa centre was ok and we had a good night in the baracoda.
The days we went to the beach we did tend to get a taxi which was about €2.25 but abit more on sat and sun. The beach was clean and kids enjoyed it sun loungers €2 food quite cheap also. The pirates ship which we never went on looks very good and was about €40 for adults and all looked like they was enjoying themselves.
If you like fishing the blue marlin was €50 for 6hours. The must is the big red jet boat on the right hand side of the harbour you dont have to book you can just turn up it is €30 but worth it your on the boat a good 45mins and spins you around etc so be prepared to get wet you can buy photos for €10 available the next day.
Watch out for the people who try to get you to another I think it is anflini (timeshare) just say you have been but the hotel does the trip free so you get to spend the day on the carrabean beach for free. Also the Amadores beach is lovely if you wanted to walk it is about half hour once you start walking from the far side of the harbour its just straight along and the sand isnt hot and the sea is clear blue.
