Near the Andorra are a group of bars. Check out The Soul Bar. Also The Restaurant Margarita -really good food. Great music especially by Mikey Mike who works in both places.

The hotel has non stop entertainment. There is always something available to keep you entertained. Every room is in good location.

All rooms are good in this quite hotel with most having sea views
Avoid booking a studio without stipulating 'NOT FACING THE WALL' as we were allocated a room looking directly at a high wall 12' from our balcony even although we had requested a sea or pool view. Check directly with the hotel well in advance.

The resort of las Americas was first class for cleanliness the road sweeper was out and about in the mornings even picking up leaves.
The resort entertainment was anything from a quiz evening, kareoki, watching sport, shopping - local or designer, local restaurants, nightclubs, crazy golf or just walking.
The beaches were cleaned every day.
The resort is definitely for any age group.

A large selection of bars, shops & restaurants. All pretty much the same sort of thing. Very touristy & you have to search hard to find anything remotely resembling traditional Canarian style. Id say the resort resembles Blackpool with sun but in fairness, I knew what to expect & this part of town is nowhere near as bad as the centre of Las Americas. The area is more hilly than I anticipated so be warned if you have mobility difficulties.
There are a few small shopping centres dotted around with a good perfume / make up shop. If you want make up at duty free prices stock up before the flight home as there is (unusually) no make up in the duty free at Tenerife South airport as I found to my disappointment!
Weather was beautiful as always.
I'd be unlikely to return to this area again but I do like Tenerife & I'd perhaps go a bit further up where it isn't quite so commercialised.

Usual time share touts in operation - best to avoid eye contact or just say "Not interested" if approached.
Haggle everywhere - it's amazing how the price comes down when you make to leave - basically NEVER take something at the price it's advertised at - you can usually get a lot off the price.

Playa de las americas is a very expensive resort i feel becuase its full of birtians rippin other brits off with bar and food prices. The beach was lovely costs 9 euro to sit on it for the day thou for that you get2 loungers and an umberella and there seems to be plenty of toilets on the beach.
The resort itself is not great for wheelchair access I really struggled in resturants and in shops.
I didnt find the resort at all what I expected it to be everything seems to be so spread out and makes me wonder did i see all of las americas? Many of the staff in bars and shops are really quiet ebrupt. Cheapest fags I found was 15 euro that was for camel and a bottle of smirnoff vodka (1 litre) was 8 euro.
From the centre of Las Americas to the airport in a taxi was 20 euro which I didn't find too bad. I am going to go back to tenerife but im going to go to Los Christianos whichi have heard is alot better and cheaper.
Hope this helps

playa las americas is a nice resort especially near where our hotel was.the beach was only 400 metres away.there is plent of supermarkets on hand, loads of shops and plenty of bars, restaurants (a few english ones as well).the beach is excellent and allways plenty of space to sit on but whilst we were there a couple got there bags pinched whilst thet were both sat there sunning themselves.two things annoying about the resort is the dark men or chinese people walking into the pubs to sell glasses, toys, watches etc.i dont know why the pubs let them on the property! and also the chaps selling timeshares and giving you a scratchcard and saying you have won.they always ask are you englsh, british but just say no thanks and walk off dont even make contact with them.sometimes you have to be firm with them so they will listen.

Beach is dark sand but clean with usual facilities. The best beach in the area is El Duque but it costs E16.60 to hire two beds and a sunshade for the day. Lots of bars had live singers in, some better than others. Lots of football on while we were there.

It's about 12 years since we've been to Playa de Las Americas, and there has been a marked improvement as regards cleanliness and general upkeep of gardens, walkways etc.
The promenade is long and mainly flat, but is spoilt by the numerous touts approaching you all the time with scratchcards, and also the ones at every bar trying to get you to eat/drink at their establishment.
Can't really comment on the entertainment outside the hotel,as we didn't sample it.
Beach not really to our liking due to dark/black sand.
Probably wouldn't go again, mainly due to touts.

We are a couple in are mid 20's and although we like a bit of action in the evenings, we are passed the clubbing stage of our lives. If you want this then head to the Veronicas and be prepared for the british PR's to harrass you as you walk through...many do not take no for an answer. If you want some karaoke bars and bars that have a bit of cabaret and entertainment then there is a strip near the Volcano hotel and a few more bars towards the east of the veronicas
