Great hotel, any rooms from 3130 to 3149, 4130 to 4149 or 5130 to 5149 are the best, if available, but just don't book it with Love Holidays as their customer service and support is non existent.

Beaches

Beach man made and thus muddy and small, best to avoid and take a trip on a boat to better, prettier and quieter beaches.Plenty of bars, restaurants and entertainment for all. Great day trips- jeep safari, Turkish bath, Turkish shave and Jesus beach just some of the highlights. The Michael Jackson lookalike dancers are excellent, great fun. Well worth a visit- cheap, good value and fun. We'll definitely visit again.

Overall my experience of Turkey was interesting. I had a good time but that was mainly because of the people I went with. The nightlife was great, all clubs were free to get in to and you just pay for drinks.
I would recommend this hotel if you just want to sunbath and don’t mind being cramped up with so many people. It would have been much better if I didn’t have the 5star expectations. Personally I wouldn’t go back to Marmaris but what is not an ideal holiday for one may be paradise to another. All I’m going to say is Spend your money wisely.

If you have been to Turkey before you will know that every bar/restaurant try to entice you in and can sometimes be quite pushy. Marmaris is no different. You get used to it. Just smile politely and say no thankyou, if they still persist just tell that you have already eaten!
The bars and restaurants are a bit repetitive in that they all seem to have the same shows on, that is break dancers, Michael Jackson show or snake show.
We went on two trips; the Atlantis water park and the all inclusive boat trip. In the water park be careful when buying water from by the wave pool they try to underpay you your change, but its a good day out, I liked the wave pool. I enjoyed the boat trip. They stop off about 4 or 5 times for a dip, then also stop off at Turunc for about hour and half where you can lie on the beach (with a nice clear sea) or shop in there gift shops. All your drinks are free and they provde lunch (which is spaghetti and beefburger type things and bread and salad). If you do book any trips go just to right of hotel to Uncle Johns. He is much cheaper than rep for same trips, he is also much better rate of exchange for changing currency and travellers cheques.
Getting about is easy in the resort. The Dolmus is 1.25 lira each, and takes you into main marmais shopping centre. From there we also caught a Dolmus to Iscmeler beach (which was 2 lira each and took about 10-15 minutes). This beach was ok. The sea was a bit pebbly though which I dont like because it hurts my feet. Be careful there also as the fish nibble you toes!!

Marmaris is a typical Turkish holiday town . It has a pleasant little harbour area bustling with shops ,restaurants and trip boats. As usual in Turkey its hard to just walk and look without someone in your face wanting you in their shop. Its major downfall for me was its lack of history and archaeology. Sunbathing bores me witless, but I love walking round the ancient sites ,sadly v little in Marm. There is an AMPHITHEATRE, but it looks like a 20thC rebuild on the site of a Roman original. I did visit the castle and they have a small museum of Graeco-Roman finds there. The highlight for me was finding the tombstone of a gladiator , a RETARIUS, in the castle grounds. Have a look see if you can find it. Marm was ok, just. Like the Cosmo, my wife and family liked it but I'm in no hurry for a return visit. I much preferred Kusadasi and Side.

the resort cleanliness could be abit better but to be honest it doesnt bother me because all people do is walk across it.
resort entertainment is like i said. too loud at times.
the beach is really good and relaxing but the sea sometimes can be dirty and you can be getting bottle tops and plastic bag and ciggarete ends floting near you while you are trying to swim. but the sand can be a bit better.

Marmaris is a BIG resort. Think Blackpool but warmer. This accommodation is about 15 mins stroll from the beach. From what I saw of the beach it was small, packed and fairly dirty so we didn't use it. Plenty of bars/restaurants within 10 minute stroll. Everywhere you go the locals will try to part you from your cash, its their job and livelyhood. A polite NO THANKS is usually enough. They are all very friendly and polite though. Prices do vary but not by much, just a few lira. Get used to haggling. It works wonders. Start at half what they ask for and you'll be in the right price area. The more you buy the cheaper it will work out. Icmeler market is on a Wednesday. Catch a dolmus and have a haggle. Although Marmaris is large I did like it. Very cosmopolitan. Don't book trips through the rep it really will cost you about 50% more. Use a local agent. We used the one just opposite the IBIZA bar {round the corner on the main road}. Ask for RICO. We booked 4 trips and he gave us a good discount and a free turkish bath each. The cruises are good value. we did 3 and a jeep safari. Well worth it. We ate at the IBIZA bar most nights, simply because it saved a load of hassle and the prices were more or less the same where ever you went. The staff got to know us and of course we always got the good table. Tey worked their socks of to ensure we all had a good time.
