Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

We did not seek any night entertainment, and only visited the old town of Albufeira, but this was interesting and the market stalls were selling beautiful, leather goods, belts, purses, wallets and handbags. Make sure you have a haggle on the more expensive articles.

We stayed in Santa Eulalia, and even though it was low season and a lot of the bars/restaurants were closed for the holidays, we still found plenty of variety. the hotel/apartments are about a five/ten minute stroll from 'the strip' where the main street is, but it was a nice leisurely walk and no steep hills to climb to get there. There are plenty of good quality (not Michelin standard, but good anyway) restaurants, there's everything from Portuguese, to japanese, and even a fish and chip shop thrown in for good measure. We did, however spend most of our nights in the 'Rockline' bar, on the corner opposite the apartments, and made some good friends there, there is an eclectic mix of holiday makers, ex pats and locals there, and there is always plenty of sport to watch in the day and a disco/karaoke on at night (even though I don't like karaoke, we still had a very good time in there every night). The staff in there (kiera and Joe) are fantastic and they work sooooo hard, but are happy in their work. To get to albufeira, it costs about 5 euros in a taxi, otherwise it's a good forty minute walk (my advice, get a taxi) where the old town is beautiful and there are plenty more shops/bars etc to entertain you. The beach was lovely, nice sandy bays and coves for you to explore. All in all we had a fantastic time and looking to book again in the summer with the kids.

The hotel was kept very clean and the maids were good at their job.
From 8pm onwards is i 5 live where the hotel reps. do a live show and the widgets (characters) do some songs and tell some stories. There is also i's down (bingo) for the adults.
The beach is quite a long walk away, but is worth it! It is very peaceful and has a shop on-site.
I would definately visit the holliday village algarve as it is guarinteed to make you wish you had never booked a flight home.

There is graffiti everywhere that really let's Portugal down. Everywhere was pretty quiet but if you go in a bar that's open all year round they're pretty consistant with providing entertainment. What we did object to was the 12 euros a day for 2 sunbeds, the beach is very picturesque but beginning to look a little tired

The resort was very busy and lots to see and do. Lots of shops bars and restuarants. The beach is about a 20 minute walk or there is courtesy bus from the vila petra which takes you there and back. We found the beach very clean but also very crowded, so stuck by the hotel pool.

The resort is very hilly, and as pensioners wasn't suitable for us.
Beach looked very nice, but didn't visit it as it was too far rom the hotel.
Would recommend the Zoo marine trip. Absolutely FABULOUS!!!!!
