Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

Much preferred the old town, especially the street entertainment (most esp the puppet show on every night in the square).

The resort was clean and the people friendly and not pushy. The beach is 10 minute walk away, but, you can use the free bus. Albufeira can be walked to in 20mins via some hills. There is a bus stop opposite the hotel. Taxi's from reception. Old town, beach and markets are really worth a visit. Cost us 7 euros with tip to get from hotel. New town covers a large area. Best ask if you want to shop or explore. The town is expanding and at the moment has lost some of its identity but clean. Beaches are very good. Check out what's on around the area, there are good places to go for all ages.

We travelled in October, near the end of the season with two teenagers daughters. Although it was quite in the whole resort, we and our daughters enoyed relaxing.
There were a few restaurants and bars still open which were nice and friendly.
We would recomend a car to get about along the coast as there are some amazing views to be had on the algarves coast. Happy holidays! We are lookin again for August.

we all love Albufeira and try to visit at least once a year The walk along the beach is heavenly.Must admit the strip is looking a bit sad but the old town itself is lovely to stroll around and we end up there most days

As a couple in our 50s this was our first visit to Albufeira and we were impressed. We definately enjoyed the Old Town more than the Strip, the Montechorro end seemed very run down and lacking in entertainment, and although the other end was quite lively at night it didn't have the variety of entertainment that the Old Town could offer. We ate out at a different restaurant each night and have to say the food was wonderful, not cheap but very good. The weather was very good 26-30 degrees but it did drop quite cool if out till the early hours! We would definately return again loved it

The resort of Albufiera, Portugal is divided into the 'new' and 'old' town, the old town is a maze of cobbled streets all full of restaurants bars, shops etc, there is a central square with lots of entertainment at night- puppet show, singing groups, artists etc, a hive of activity but with a real pleasant 'holiday' feel. The 'new' town, we found, is alot more 'english' with plenty of bars, restaurants, souvenier shops etc but a bit tacky and extremely busy! The beach is lovely but is only reached via quite a steep hill, we found this ok but may cause problems for those with young children or with difficulty walking any distance. We liked the resort but it's not the place to visit if you like a quiet wander!

The Strip was very busy and full of pubs and clubs and bars and restaurants, but we never visited it. We went to the Old Town of Albufeira on our first night, and it was very nice, but busy. We ended up by those rocks that fell and killed 4 people, which isn't great. We did notice when we were there how they weren't covered by netting. The beach was very big with a pier and people fishing there.

We have visited the resort before and stayed in the old town. This visit was in August too. I am a keen bowler and on this occasion I found the bowling green dug up . I saw a number of workers the lot of whom I would have sacked. Whoever insisted in putting on self leveling compound has no brains sorry maybe in the arse of the trousers. Why? when self leveling compound comes to its own level it leaves a layer of approx 3/16 th of an inch. With the intense heat it could do nothing else but crack leaving the workers running around with opick axes crow bars digging it up again. Shame on you. Nobody at reception could tell me about buses to Villamoura. Enough said.
