Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

hotel location was execellent. 15 mins to old town and 15 mins to the strip.old town good for all souviners and few bars and resturants. the strip is for manily the young ones with your bars and clubs.beaches lovely and sandy dont forget sandals as sand becomes very very hot.cant wait to return once again had best holiday.

Did not make it to the beach, but the restaurants in the village area were all good value and great tasting, except the italian one where we were ripped off.
Supoermarket has pretty much everything that you need. Not much choice of shops but taxis to other areas are very reasonable.

The Location is about 400 metres from the beach, which is small and sandy with a few rock pools - it was very quiet. There is a local restaurant on the beach with great fish. You can walk to the other beaches across the cliffs (only for the brave!)
There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and supermarkets, but you will need to walk a short distance, and prices vary. A car would be needed if you are adventurous, but if you want a quiet relaxing holiday then this place is perfect.
Overall, a lovely place...

We found the Cockerel Country Kitchen Restaurant, not far from our apartment. It has a lovely atmosphere and the sound system plays 'golden oldies'. However, sadly, the customer is not always right here. My husband ordered a king prawn dish. The price was almost 15 euros, so not cheap; you can get a main course for half that in tbe same area. When the meal arrived he asked for the shells to be taken off because he could not cope with them. He waited 20 minutes, & when he queried the wait was told that he was behind other food coming out of the kitchen. By the time the prawns returned, I had finished my meal and his chips were cold. There was no offer to replace the chips, and he did not dare ask in case it took another 20 minutes or more. Then, a pompous owner/manager came across and told my husband that prawns come with shells on. My husband is a pensioner, and already knows how prawns are landed, so the purpose of the lecture must have been to make him feel small.
The restaurant offered a fresh breakfast at a reasonable price. We would probably have returned several times during our stay, because it was such a short walk and it did not seem worthwhile cooking, but after that experience we went elsewhere.
Such a pity that the customer is not valued here!!!

There is lots to do in Albufeira, you have the choice of the bars/restaurants and hustle and bustle of the strip, or the more traditional laid back old town, we enjoyed them both. Only downside not to mush in the bars for kids to do, however Tom and Jerrys diner offer table drawing for kids and the tom and jerry pics kept my little one amused for a while, good food, large portions at decent price worth a look. Country Cockerel lovely meal though a bit pricy worth looking at for a special treat. Devlins irish bar have very friendly staff, dart board and pool table they do a fantastic breakfast for 3 euros and all the food is really good only serve food till 5pm. Worth looking around the old town as bars/restaurants just behind the square offer good value. We found a tourist menu for 10.95 3 course plus drink, large portions and really lovely food, (Tassa da Azur or something like that). Would definitely recommend Albufeira as you can have a choice of a beach,a lively, or a more relaxed holiday deopending on your mood.

sao juao is where we were staying and this part was very clean and plenty of restaurants, bars had most of the entertainment and there was plenty of those too. Beaches not bad but better in the old town of albufeira. we prefered this area rather than the one we were in.

Portugal is a lovely place for a holiday, its clean and friendly and the traffic stops for you when you cross on the zebra crossings. The bars on the strip are really good and you can eat in nearly everyone the food is great no matter what you want.We have been 4 times since 2006 and will keep going back a lovely relaxing holiday for us or a hectic if you prefer.
