Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

We found the resort area to be quite clean with lots of bars and restaurants, also plenty of 'tat' shops to mooch around, we never really went onto the beach so i cannot comment on the standard but it looked nice from a distance.
The old town is a 15-20 minute walk away and the 'strip' is a good 10 minute walk.

At night the main square is lovely with plenty of street entertainment. Plenty of eating places with varied prices if you look around. The train will take you along to the strip which we found to be quite tacky and mainly for the young clubbers. If you get off the train at the stop in between the strip and the old town just behind the train stop there is a lovely cafe selling the most wonderful cakes. You can either sit outside, inside or on the balcony, well worth a visit for the most delicious cream cakes.

Resort was OK, we felt safe at night in the tourist areas, stick to them and you will be OK, lots to do in the Old Town, great resturants and some nice shops, lots of music in the streets and just nice to sit in a bar and people watch. Food by the beach is very nice, you can get some cheaper meals in the back streets, we had some lovely meals, steak and great fish, all fresh and nicely prepared, try the restauarnt high on the cliff, cant think whats its called now but you will see it from the beach, very nice fish !

We stayed in Albufeira, location was great as we were between the old town and new town. You could either walk or get the Noddy train or taxi.

we stayed in Praia Da Falesia and on first impresions we thought it was rather quaint.
but would not like to be ther during the peak weeks.
only a few places to eat and all seemed to serve that well known Portuguese dish of Beef Stroganoff yes you read it right BEEF STROGANOFF.
the Chicken Piri piri was no better than bbq chicken so if you are looking for traditional food do not come here unless you want chips with that.
also the picturesque square at the heart of the resort turned into a bouncy castle and race track by night thus losing all its charm and integrity
