Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

resort based in balaia very clean, but slightly too far from the main entertainment of the strip and old town.
beaches are very good, but nearest is at least 15 mins walk.
beach nearest the strip is really nice(4 euros in taxi)with some nice bars and restaurants.

I'm no spring chicken anymore so I quite enjoy the relative quietness of the Old Town. I personally hate the strip in Areas Sao Joao but would probably love it if I was 25 years younger. There are more good clean beaches in and around Albufeira than you can shake a stick at, all of which are safe for kids (at least I know the Prias De Piscadores and Oura are) and plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets (that was before the bottom dropped out of the value of the pound though). Since they have renovated the square (which in fairness they had to do because the old sewers weren't coping) it has lost much of its quaintness. Mind you, if you didn't know what it once was, you would not be disappointed with what it now is (if you get my drift).

The new town was excellent with many bars and restaurants to eat in. Places I would recommend to eat are St Mary's, The Yorkshire Pub & the celtic bar next to St Mary's. I would be very careful in the old town. Although lovely it is hard to find decent cheap places to eat. I would recommend the strip of restaurants that are hidden behind the Funky Fish at the far side of the old town. We only found these on the second week of our holiday and wished we had found them sooner. My top tip is never eat the bread & butter placed on the tables as restaurants charge a stupid amount for this and purchase cigs in the uk airport and cigs cost ÂŁ30 a packet in Portugal

well what can i say, ive just returned from the holiday village algarve and it was outstanding,, me and my family have loved it, my 2 young children were very happy bunnys all week, the cleanliness was perfect, the resort was fabalous as there were plent of things to do with the splash park, water slides, normal park plus many more activities, they also do a swim kids where they teach your kids to swim, i was a bit shocked that they actually did teach my children to swim as we were only there a week, but hey it just goes to show how excellent the staff are there, only visited the beach once as there was so much to do at the hotel, we will definetly be returning!!

Olhos D'Agua is a small fishing town situated between Albufeira and Villamoura. It has just the right amount of shops and restaurants for a good holiday without being overbusy. It still retains it's original charm but has quite a bit of building works going on. The small beaches and coves in the area are excellent and it was never too crowded. The supermarkets in the area are of very good quality. There are a few great Hotels in the town too. Bus services are very efficient and it is easy to visit other resorts quite cheaply. It is probaby more suited for people wanting a more relaxed holiday and for this purpose it ticks all the boxes.

This was our first visit to the resort of Albufiera & we will definately be returning again.
The beaches were clean & spacious, the weather was glorious & the bars on the strip, especially Will & Co which had excellent live music & superb food (albeit a little on the expensive side), were all you needed to ensure your nights were as exciting as the days were relaxing.
The bars & shops around the old town, which is accesible by local bus for around 1 euro, gives you a chance to have a laid back evening in contrtast to the strip.

Found plenty of bars and places to eat out, all at resonable prices, most have happy hours, beer about 1.20 euros, but after 10.30pm can rise to 4 or more. Great bar at bottom of the strip with a live band on every night.

Many good restaurants - best one we found was Leoa's, 2 mins walk from the hotel, right at the top of the strip.Fantastic food. Worst, by far, The English Kitchen - cheap, nasty, processed food - please avoid.
Well worth going to zoomarine (we were told to be there for 9.15 for daughter to swim with dolphins - do not arrive before 9.40, as it is closed till 10.00, and staff don't arrive till about 9.45!!!). Slide and splash is fantastic, much bigger and better than Aqualand.
The strip does get very lively, and we got a bit fed up of the touts trying to get you into restaurants.
