Great hotel, any rooms from 3130 to 3149, 4130 to 4149 or 5130 to 5149 are the best, if available, but just don't book it with Love Holidays as their customer service and support is non existent.

Marmaris is basically a town built for tourists, although the stunning marina (20 mins walk east of Portobello Apartments) has some history and charm in its streets and buildings. However, remember this is probably not real Turkey, it's tourist Turkey. This is fine if you're a Brit who wants home comforts plus sunshine rather than the adventure of living like the Turks do.
Beaches are a bit gravely. On some of the beaches there is no charge for sunbeds but you're expected to keep topped-up with drinks / food from the hotel that owns them. Fine by us. Buildings range from run down, concrete slabs to smart modern hotels and there is always the dark corner where you'll find derelict buildings and yards. On the whole it's okay. As I said the marina is stunning; even more so at night.

Marmaris is a great place to stay, you really know your abroad when you stay there.
However I did not like the way a lot of the barstaff were grabbing us as we walked passed. It could be quite intimidating at times.

Leaving the hotel complex was an adventure not for the faint hearted as the Turkish bar owners & traders don't make it a pleasant experience at all. It is simply impossible to have a peaceful mellow stroll in the evening after dinner. In 2 words mega hassle!!! and I don't use those words lightly. We have travelled extensively and never experienced this level of hassle anywhere, ever before.
The hotel itself is quite far from Marmaris centre, but the little buses stop almost outside the hotel and are very inexpensive, very frequent and they run until 1am. Oh and DO take the taxi boat from Marmaris to Ichmelar - delightful experience and Ichmelar is where to while away your evenings young & old alike. Better standard of bars & restrauants, lovely beach walks etc etc

Marmaris is a very busy and commercial part of Turkey. It is not the cleanest resort I have been to. There is quite a bit of litter and some graffiti on the streets.
Please don't let this put you off! It is very friendly place, not just the people in the bars and restaurants but the public too, which I did'nt find on my previous visit to Turkey.
Entertainment in the bars and clubs is excellent and usually free.
The beach stretches for miles and is covered with sun loungers. It is right next to the bars and it does get very busy.

Marmaris is an excellent resort with something for everyone good restuarants,visit the golden plate at the far end of the harbour brilliant food and great service, boat trips are fantastic real value for money. Plenty of shopping, plenty of good bargains, especially the gold. Don't forget to haggle it's great fun.The beach is the only let down as it is not sand but get the dolmus to Icemeler as the beach there is ok. Third time in Marmaris will definately go again

Marmaris is superb! Those people that complain about being hassled perhaps should avoid going to those areas. A firm no thank you works. Being gifted with Crimewatch looks probably saved me from the worst of it(LOL)
