Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

Albufeira has something for everyone , quiet bars , fab restaurants , bands , singers you name it its got it, can be a bit awkward to get around for disabled due to cobbestones being very slippy

resort was nice we wanted a relaxing 1 week holiday and got that but don't think there would have been enough to entertain me for 2 weeks

The surrounding area was quite run down, lots of graffiti, and there were only a few hotels nearby - the nearest restaurant we saw was a good 10 minute walk (although there are restaurants in the hotels). The beach we went to, Santa Maria by Club Med, was beautiful and highly recommended.

There can be a lot of walking to be done wherever you go and albufeira is quite hilly so beware. There is a train that goes round all day and stops outside the hotel, in the new town and the old town. It cost 2 euro for 1 Trip or you can get an all day ticket for 3 euro and ride as many times as you want all day. New town has a 1 mile long strip of bars and restaurants (Recommend Cocunuts and Bananas). Large beers were between 1.5 and 3 Euros. Beware that a large beer in most places in not a pint as we know it, more like 2/3rds. The weather was not the best when we went as it rained for 3 of the 7 days but overall we had a great time and the hotel was great and we will definately be going back. Beaches were good with no stones and lifegauards were on duty on fishermans beach. Resort people were polite and if you said no to going into a place they accepted it and let you move on. The only hassle you got were from the english people trying to get you into their bars. Taxi's are good and cost abot 3.90 Euro to get from the new town back to hotel.

Resort is spotless, I saw a lady road sweeper cleaning the streets, she was working away around 8 O'clock in the evening. Entertainment was good outside some of the bars.
Beaches beautiful!
I don't really think I would visit this resort again, prices really too high!

There is very little to say about balaia. It is not a resort just a collection of hotels built and being built

Great resort as there is something for everyone. Lots of restaurants, bars, and the beaches are beautiful and clean. TheNew Town is quite tacky, but the old town is lovely with cobbled streets and a square.

There wasn't really much in the resort. A handful of restaurants, 2 supermarkets and a few shops. The supermarket nearest the apartments was the cheapest. We ate at The Lagostereia a few times and that seemed to be the best in the area. Needed a bus or taxi to get anywhere else and we were advised to get a taxi as they were more reliable. However if you plan to get out and about or are there for 2 weeks I would suggest hiring a car.
