Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

The Apart/Hotel is located a few miles away from Albufeira in a remote quiet country area with views over orange groves and fields, and many abandoned/derelict villas and gives the impression of being a poor area with little facilities for the holidaymaker. You need a car if you want to get about really.
We travelled out with another couple we met at the hotel who had been to Portugal many times and kindly took us out with them for a couple of days, and showed us some of the beautiful sandy beaches, marinas and coves not to be missed !! Weather was excellent apart from the first two days was heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Resort was quite as it was Christmas, can imagine it is very busy and lively in August. A nice resort with lovely features and the beaches were clean and well kept.

We visited this resort out of season so we cannot really comment on the standards at peak time but out of season is lovely there are not huge amounts of people around but most bars and restaurants are still open until mid/late nov and there are plenty of place to eat, there are some wonderful fresh fish restaurants on the sea front in the old town, this to us was the best place rather than the main strip which is only bars and the ususal eating places.
The beach is wonderfull - the sea is a little rough but again it was november but it was lovely to walk in.
There are lots of little places to visit in and around this resort.

The resort has some wonderful beaches and many little coves. There are many restaraunts and bars and the old town of Albufeira is only a 3 Euro taxi ride away. I must say I preferred the old town the shops where much better and so were many of the restaraunts, although many round the appartments where also very good the only problem I could say they where all on the main road so wasn't very pleasant if you wanted to eat outside.
We preferred the restaraunts at the top of the strip which were much quieter if you wanted to eat Al Fresco.
We only went for a week and I think to sample all that there is on offer you need two weeks so would definately be going again.

where the hotel is you have easy access to both the old and new town which are both quite good the new town is a lot busier, you can get to these by train 3 euros for adult all day and taxi is approx 4euros, we went on a day trip to zoo marine this was really good as we swam with dolphins for approx £100 in english money, regards food we had a few bad experiences one time we paid 55 euros for 2 x steak and chips and 2 x coke from wid and co in the new town it was gross, we found a nice place just up the road called the geordie bar, half the price but a lot better taste.

Albufeira was a good lively resort, with lots of bars, restreunts and shops. Vila Alba was about a 20min walk down the strip to the sea. Food was great try Yan Yan chinese for a change 9.95 euro per person for starter, soup, main course, sweet, large beer each and a bottle of very good wine. Go to old town as well buses cost 1euro each way or get a taxi 3.70 euro for four at 01.30 in the morning. For local dishes try Casanova and Alfredos (main square), lots of lively bars on bar street.WE did trip to Lisbon (20 euros each, shop about as this was also on sale for 33 euros)we loved Lisbon and will return for a longer visit lots of great buildings and an excellent guide.Zoomarine was a great day out lots to do, swam with dolpins(this is a experience not to be missed and was well worth the 140 euro extra). This was our first visit to Portugal, we will return, weather was great, people extremly friendly and the resort was good for all age groups.

the resort would be fine for anyone just wanting to lie on a beach or eat and drink but thiers nothing else to do no history or such to visit the tourist information consists of being giving a map with all the main restraunts and shops

The resort of Montechoro can be extremely busy in peak season however when we visited in October it was nice and quiet. There are numerous great restaurants including Cost Rica on the strip.

Lots of eatery's, recommend Lisa'a, next to Vilanova Hotel(apts), Coconuts,on upper part of strip across the dual carriageway, and Caravela, just along from taxi rank near dual carriageway. Would be wary of using the telephone kiosks as lost count of how many euro's we wasted in trying to get connections to UK. Excellent trip from the resort to Zoomarine. The nearest beach was Praia de Oura which was clean.
