Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

acoteias is to remote there is no bars only resturants and only a handful if that and not many shops...the walkways are really bad especially if you have a pram and the street lighting back down to the complex is really none exsistant..you are just to far from everything....we wanted a quite resort so we could relax but this is too quite and remote.......the complex do run a minibus service to the beach and other resorts and it does not cost much by taxi......but won't be going back.......

This was our sixth visit to Albufeira and won't be our last. There is something for everybody - The old town with its lively pubs and restaurants with live entertainment in the main square on several nights - 'The Strip', a long road of bars, restaurants, shops and night clubs (everything for the young at heart - several lovely sandy beaches within easy reach - and plenty of history.

Albufeira is a mixture of old and new with something to do for just about everyone. We loved the old town and are going back again but it could be a problem for some to get about in the old town due to steps, hills and very slippy cobbles. Our friends preferred the flatter area of the Strip as they had a buggy and found it easier. The little tourist train between the two is only 3€ for an all day pass which you can use as many times as you like.
The beaches are beautiful and clean. The currents can be very strong and the tides turn quickly. The all day boat trip with a BBQ was great and Zoomarine is recommended for the excellent dolphin show.
We ate traditional local dishes everyday and never had a bad meal, seafood is tremendous. There are bars, pubs, clubs, cafes, restaurants ect to suit every taste.
We have been told there is further work planned for the Old Town reconstruction so we will be taking this into consideration when we book our accommodation for 2008.

Although quite busy, there was something for everyone. The resort was clean and well looked after. The walk down to the beach was quite steep but well worth the effort! Fantastic

Santa Eulalia is a new vibrant area of Montechoro and is fast becoming a resort in it's own right.
It has many bars and restaurants which cater for all various tastes, a beautiful beach and easy access to public transport.
I would say the only thing lacking in Santa Eulalia is many shops, but if you are a shopaholic there are plenty on the strip - a 10 minute walk away, or in the Old Town (a 5 - 10 min taxi ride away)
WE always used to stay in Montechoro, but now much prefer to be at the opposite end of the Strip in Santa Eulalia.

Beaches were lovely. We walked to the beach near the old town everyday however beware those who have young children in pushchairs as the steps down to the beach area were very steep. Plenty of places to eat both old and new areas. We prefered the old town to the strip as less noisy

Balia was lovely just outside Albrefria. Small and quite but was being built up at the time so alot of buiding work going on but we never left the complex that much as so much to do there.
