Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

Resort lovely. Lots of bars and the food is the best.

The beach was clean and there was a lot of activities such as the jet ski\'s and bannana boat. The food was lovely and we always found somewhere nice to eat. The bars at night time were good especially the matt\'s bar where there was a mechanical bull. We plan to go back again as we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The streets were spotless almost everywhere we went. The old town is no longer old and is currently undergoing modernisation but you can still find lots of traditional Portuguese culture all over Albufeira if that's what your looking for.
The cobbles are very slippy, take some 'comfortable shoes'! There is something to suit everyone no matter what age group.
The square is more laid back but still loads to choose from and the strip is just party on down til the sun rises! The beaches are some of the best i've ever visited and even when busy are not overcrowded.
We have already booked to go back again.

This is a brilliant place to stay, with great choice of restaurants and bars. The people are friendly and they didn't pester us like they do in some resorts. We ate at a different place every night- all good but the best restaurant we found was Martinique which is at the far end of the strip, just by hotel montechoro. Their menu is more varied, with plenty of food and reasonably priced. The best bar was wild & co with a live band every night, but the drinks are a little more expensive - presumably to pay for the entertainment. Lots of bars had kareoke and there was a couple of disco's mainly aimed at young people (garage music??!!)
We went on two trips - jeep safari (great fun ) and boat trip - great for topping up your tan. Can recommend them both. All in all a great holiday place - will be back!!

praia oura was a lovely place to stay, something for everyone - the strip seems to have two different ends, the praia oura end where we were was the best for food and entertainment, the other seemed a bit scruffier and not as much choice.
We ate at the sizzling stone (delicious), the rancho (delicious), the chinese at this end (absolutely georgous), the venezula (lovely). We never had a bad meal or dessert at all and in each they were very helpful (I can't eat chocolate so asked at each for banana split with no choco icecream, no choco sauce and no choc flakes and that was exactly what I got).
The Wild and Co pub on the corner has live entertainment each night and was a nice place to go. Also the old town on a saturday night with the live entertainment and the places to eat was a really nice night out - although a bit chilly when it got dark.
All in all I would say - don't take high heals (cobble stones everywhere), take a cardi for a night and enjoy.

Ideal location for groups & couples. Not the best for families as lively.
You must get the train from th top of the strip to the old town for a night, and try the rock cafe if into your live music/bands.
Good English grub at Mary Anns. Also try 'O Puerto' or something for an evening meal,on strip. Swordfish was huge!!

The resort itself is lovely though I think anyone over 50 might find the 'strip' area a bit much at night, but then people know that a place like Albufeira is going to be like that, so if they want peace and quiet they should really choose a different resort. We loved it, as we could come and go as we pleased! The resort was clean and there was entertainment for every taste. The beaches were lovely and not too overcrowded when we were there. The only comment I would have about the resort was the it was pretty hilly, with lots of steps to climb (even to get to Father Ed's) so people with mobility problems could possibly find it difficult.
All in all we had a brilliant holiday, and as soon as we are able to, we will be booking again for next year.

It's very clean in the Old town. No problems with hygiene etc.
Re. Entertainment: There are countless places on your doorstep with bands playing - including the streets! There is all sorts of entertainment going on in the main square every night too. I recommend the Rock Cafe bar. Two groups play throughout the season, three days on for each of them. Staff are very efficient and friendly too. Go there - it's really good!
Beach is great. Bit busy by the Old town but if you walk along for a few hundred yards the crowds thin out a bit. Presume it would be very busy in August?
I've already made a prior booking to go again in October to a different hotel, which is literally 50 yards from this one.

The resort was very well kept, the entertainment was okay but not a lot for kids. The beach was some distance away but a courtesy bus ran through-out the day.The pool area was becoming very busy so sun -beds were becoming a problem just as we left.It ended up queing at 9.00 until patio doors were opened then everyone declared there beds with placing towels on top for later sun bathing.

Second time in Albuifera and would definetly go back. The beach is superb and the old town is very nice. Some graffiti starting to appear and the local council should tackle this before it gets worse.
Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants with good entertainment.
