Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

Overall average for resort cleanliness, some places were left neglected, but it did'nt detract from a cracking holiday.
Entertainment good spoilt for choice.
Beach first class & clean.

The resort for the most part was clean, no dog poo about then again there were not many dogs about. One thing to watch out for are the Gypsies they are all over the place begging for money, one that tuck my eye was near the tunnel to the beach he made his poor dog (the only one I had seen) have a pair of sun glass's on and lay still for hours,he pretended to have a bad leg and used a crutch to get about, but we saw him running one day as if he was late so don't give these people any money.
Music street looked the same as always lots of holidaymakers with there fancy cocktails, the Square had had a make over with new slabs and stage area, with shows on most nights.
Plenty of restaurants, and the pubs still charge a arm and a leg for a drink, if like most places you go round the couner the drinks are just as good but half the price.
The beach is one of the best things about Albufiera clean and safe, plenty of sunbeds if you want them.
All in all a good all round resort with plenty of things for young and old with a good mix of restaurants good bus service to get about with. I will go back to Albufiera again in a few years as it is one of those resorts that has got the lot.

Stayed in the village of Olhos de Aghua which is 7.5km from Albufeira old town. The vilage is a bit isolated however has all amenities apart from mony changing facilities. A very clean resort with a couple of really nice beaches. It is very hilly so may not be ideal for the less mobile. The entertainment in the village centres on a few bars however there are many nice places to eat. Meals for four people cost on average ÂŁ40-50. I would visit again but earlier in the season when the weather isnt as hot making the walking a bit easier.

vilanova is in the middle of EVERYTHING!!! its right on the strip, near the best restaurant, the ancora(try the pork kebab),and loads of good places are nearby.
try the scots rock cafe, kilt and kelt, devlins etc
AVOID the very last bar on the strip, which is a big brand new thing at the bottom on the left. the staff in this place (3 of them) spoke no english, and after waiting 15 minutes, we still hadnt been served, when there was only about 10 customers in the place[the wife pointed out that i was not a 19 year old blonde with big tits; which was seemingly the problem!!!!!]

Nothing going on in this area really, you have to walk a fair way to find restuarants. The beach location is very good and very clean though.

Very clean everywhere, with well organised facilites on all the beaches for rubbish, toilets and snacks. No touts or tacky shops in sight. Beach vendors mostly selling donuts or pancakes, but never intrusive. Atlantic water as expected requires some effort to get in to, but could throw some exciting waves. Lourenco beach very pretty but tough on the feet (course sand) and rocky. Gale finer sand, and with fewer to no rocks (depedending on where located). Beaches generally very scenic, but busy. Car parking can be nightmarsh, especially on a Sunday.
Did not find resort entertainment existed, and restaurants tended to be very spaced apart with limited choice. Vegetarianism not really catered for, pizza, omlette, and if lucky, an option of pasta. Supermarkets tend to be reasonably well stocked, so if self catering it is possible to cook reasonably varied range.
Would consider return as so much of the holiday was faultess, but did find the resort area a bit bland.

First time in the Algarve. Great resort, lots of bars, clubs and restaurants. Old town just a short taxi ride away. We had young kids so did not get the chance to try out the nightlife. Nice beach at the bottom of the hill, only steep the last 200 yards.
Will we go back? Absolutely
