Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

The strip at this time of the year is fairly quiet.most of the shops are looking to close at the start of nov so we got some great bargains.Copy lacoste t shirts for £8 each off the street vendors but we did have to barter.
Most of the strip restaurants are rubbish, we ate out every night and for 4 of us we paid about 50 - 60 euros which included drinks.Not bad but the food wasn't that good...that is until we found Annabels.This small restaurant is situated about 200 yards from the entance of the Ourapraia hotel and was fantastic.We all had well cooke meals(steak,lasagne,burgers,scampi etc)with drinks and deserts for about 36 euros!!The staff were friendly,food was cooked perfectly and in good time and we could even watch stickly come dancing while we ate.We will go there again when we go back.
All in all this is a great place to go if you have young children or just want a lazy holiday.The oura beach was clean and there is a new cafe near to the clube praia da oura.the sea here is always cold but can't change that!

Salgados beach is a slow 15 minutes walk,from Bayside Apartments, so not exactly on your doorstep. Make the effort,a cleaner stretch you will not find, and for those with an interest in nature, there is a wetland area with a viewing platform so you watch amongst others flamingos!
If your'e looking for peace and quiet, then you get what you pay for.
If you want bright lights, discos and bars, then Albufeira is only 15 minutes away.

Where we stayed was between the old town and new town, and they where both within walking distance of the hotel.The old town had a lot of street entertainers, and a Neil Diamond tribute act.They where some cheap places to eat which where nice places.
The New Town was excellent as they had happy hour in much bars which went on for 12 hours usually.. the steak houses and Chinese restaurants where lovely.. I will be going back there soon

The resort is purely holiday lets. Shopping is about 500m away. Eating out is best at beach bars/restaurants. Little entertainment close to hand but the views/weather and beaches more than make up for that.

Strip was very tacky and busy. The pavements are a death trap cobbles without any cement holding them together, when it rains it is like an ice rink. Definately not for the infirm not too good for buggys either!
Watch out for the drug dealers on the strip. You can't miss them they dress all in black, Long black jackets, black pants and black hats!
Beach was not great very strong currents and lots of stones as you go into the water. Also it is tidal and washes up loads of horrible sea weed!
Lots of beggars on the strip. We found it very upsetting as they were there all night with tiny children asleep next to them. They had a lovely brand new Vauxhall Astra though...so don't be fooled!
Would definately not return to Portugal. The place is tacky the people are rude and the food and drink are a rip off!!!

the only thing that lets it down is the strip at nightnot recomended if you have young kiddies.the zoomarine is a must very enjoyable kids as well as us adults loved the dolphin show plenty to do and well worth the money.all in all a good holiday .

Albafiera (san jao region) this resort had something for everyone, young and old, families, couples or singles. the choice of bars and restraunts was vast we tried to eat somewhere different each night but still left a lot to try next time.
Lots of live bands in the bars mostly heavy rock which suited us down to the ground. Plenty of sports to watch to choose from football, rugby, cricket and wrestling some bars showing two or three at a time.
The two beaches we visited were very good the others we saw all looked good too. In all the resort was very well kept the standard of cleanliness was very good to say it was quite busy.
