Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Spick and span clean but some of the walk ways needed attention needing french drains to stop them getting sand silt which could tread into the apartment.
A weekly BBQ at the on-site pool restaurant and we discovered that we could also have some good evenings out as guests of the Club Albufeira at the Camping Albufeira just opposite -karaoke - BBQ -quiz evenings.
The beaches in December were empty of tourists and so we could walk them and the cliff tops at Falesia whenever we needed to clear our heads. There were some lovely coves to shelter from the Atlantic breezes and get our tanning done.
We will most certainly go back again!

the main strip area is run down and very unpleasant, the locals are not very friendy either and we had to resort to eating in british bars because the local restaurants were so poor for food, service and not very welcoming either the resort as a whole it seeing a huge crimewave at the moment with breakins, muggings ,bag smatchings, drug dealers.( I got offered drugs every morning on my daily walk for a newspaper at 9a.m in the morning)This is having a massive effect on tourism in the area with visitor totals being down up tp 40%.Take my advice if you are going visit the old town instead,if yuor thinking of going DONT.

Albufeira by all accounts is the part of the Algarve that most people visit.
I would definitely go back but would probably stay there as a base and move around alittle. As we were only there for a week we didn't do alot of sightseeing as such but there was more than enough to do.
We tended to visit the old town for dinner as we really wanted to try the traditional Portuguese food as you can always get British food at home and loved to sample the foods of wherever it is we visit, The Atrium Restaurant is not to be missed! its at the top of the old town, just through the tunnel from the beach. Fabulous food!
Everything from their fish, to the steaks to their mixed kebabs mmmm yum! yum! and they have a traditional quartet who sing at intervals through the evening who are great characters!
Then after dinner and because the old town tends to close down quite early we'd get a taxi back to the new strip which has some nice bars with boogie music and are usually open til 4am. Also in the new strip you've got to try Erin's Isle up beside the Choromar apartments. The food is authentic Irish food like hock ham, creamy mash and cabbage and they have a beautiful traditonal Irish pub down stairs were they have entertainment on every evening, the atmosphere was fantastic and we met some great people there and had some of the Irish craic!!!
All in all, Albufeira is a great place for a holiday with some fabulous beaches, really yellow sand and pea green sea....fabulous! and we will definitely be back!

The Rocomar hotel is within 5 minutes walk from the old town of Albufeira. But just along the small promenade in front of the hotel there are 3 lovely fish restaurants, next door to each other, excellent food.
In the old town go to the square, there are lots of restaurants and bars, and a few street entertainments, and of course lots of shops, it's not far away from anything, it has a nice old feel to the place, we drove in a tour bus through the newer part of Albufeira and decided we prefered the old part where we were.
We walked along the beach which was lovely and clean and enormous. One thing I would say is that Alberfeira is very hilly, there are lots of steep streets and steps, but I think a lot of the Algarve is like this, We managed with it fine.
Altogether a lovely place and can't wait to go back.

The resort is built into the cliff face and not very suitable for families with young children with buggys. The old town and new town is a fair distance apart. If you love brilliant beaches this is the place to go. This is the second time we have been to the same resort unfortunately the accommodation situation ruined the holiday

Olhos D'Agua is a more laid back resort, not ideal if you want alot of entertainment during the day and evening! Very peaceful and tranquil and very pretty. The beach was lovely and clean and the restaurants were sufficient for the holidaymakers requirements.
A small variety of shops, with a supermarket on the main road - all of which were reasonably priced.
Restaurants mainly by the beachfront and main road, all serving very good food and all good priced.
Buses and taxis were a bit rare so be prepared to call a taxi at your hotel!
All in all a very nice resort and only 10 minutes drive to Albufeira Old Town for a slightly different look of Portugal!

This was a lovely resort with plenty to do for all ages. The strip has lots of lovely restaurants and bars not too badly priced and the old town is full of charm. The beach if fantastic and lovely and clean.

Albufeira Old town is a bustling centre of activity with plenty of restaurants etc. Shops are plentiful, some quite interesting. It is 14 years since we visited last. Then we were plagued by 'time share' sellers. Today they are in the minority, totally outnumbered by 'Brits' trying to persuade you into their 'traditional' Portuguese restaurants. Most were good humoured. A minor irritation though. The beach at the Old Town is very nice, but there are better beaches further afield. Car hire a benefit (shop around). If you do hire a car, then visits to Silves, Cape St Vincent, Vila Real on the Spanish border, well worth the effort.
