Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

The resort itself was full of life day and night. There are bars, restaurants, and shops a plenty. Although we hardly left the hotel, as it suited our every need, we visited a few restaurants for our evening meals. Rhenos, turn left out of vilanova, down road, across junction, uphill opposite la bambas, very busy portuguese place, staff were exceptionally friendly to the children, especially mickey, making flowers and things out of paper for them, food was ok too! Another nice place was American Diner, right out of vilanova over dual carriage way and keep walking uphill for about five minutes and it was on the right just after a waste ground. The menu resembled TGI fridays, and tasted just as good.
We never actually got to the beach as the pool was just perfect for us. But we were told that you had to go down cardiac hill to get to it, says it all!
We did catch the road train to mcdonalds once which was the cheapest meal of the week, and the kids loved it, and we loved the air conditioning, Loving it!!!!!

I believe Albufeira has something for everyone. Some might not like the hilly terain but there is plenty to do (or not to do as the case maybe).I thought the price of food/drink/taxis/water parks was very reasonable. The only rip off being the sunbeds on the beach (which seems to be the same everywher now) & the airport transfer company we used(www.airport-transfers-algarve.com) who didn't bother collecting us on our return journey even though we alraedy paid them! I have complained 4 times without reply so far!

Vale de Para is a small village about 5 miles out of Albufeira. Entertainment is in the form of 3 bars / restaurants and the Salgados golf course. It has to be said that you really do need a car, unless you are going to limit yourself to sitting by the pool and walking to the local pubs / shops. The beach is a 5-minute drive away and is fabulous. It is so long that it has various names along the length you can walk. With Armacao de Pera at the one end and Gale at the other, you have access to about 5 miles of white sand beach. If you like building sand castles, you will be in heaven. Lastly, a marina has recently been built in Albufeira, which will increase the facilities there, though, undoubtedly increase prices.

This was the fourth time to Albufeira had a great time but I thought the strip was getting a bit out of hand, when the pub touts stick there faces in your face and stink of beer and say come in for a drink do we realy need all that.
Went to some nice restaurants (Restaurant Caravla and O'tunnel) to name but two, had a hire car for three days and went up in the hills and visited Aljezur,Alte, Salir,Alcoutim and V/R Santo Antonio from were we got the ferry to Spain $1.25 each way to Ayamonta. Also got the local bus to Silves did the tourist thing then had some super frago piri piri by the river. ( makes my mouth water)
Beachs all ways nice though the climb up those steps after a hard day on the beach well must be getting old ;-)
Well thats me.

The resort is lively and fun, aimed at families at young people. There are lots of restaurants, bars and clubs. There is also lots of good shopping. The beach is down a hill, but it is nice, clean and sandy.

The resort mainly consists of bars and there isn't much for the younger children.
The beach is down a very steep hill and isn't as good as other beaches and has quite a bit of seaweed and pebbles.
Plenty of bars to chose from and a variety of shops to visit
