Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

I would very much like to go again but would stay in one of the apartments nearer to the enterance (up to No. 400)as the apartment we stayed in was a long, quite steep walk (No. 800+).
Balaii Village, in my opinion, is for the golfers or those wishing a quieter holiday.

Not a lot to say about the resort of Albufiera, except to say it's a nice place to visit.
There is a reasonable amount to do both day and night, it can be quiet or lively depending what you like.
The locals are very very friendly and I would not hesitate making another visit.
Walking can get tiring because of the steep roads that are used to visit the Old Town and the beach, easy to get down to but probably best to take a taxi back to your apartment if it's at the top of the hill, only 5 Euro for a taxi to anywhere in Albufiera.

Albufeira is also 1 of the best resorts i've stayed in. It is so beautiful, very, very clean, the food is delicious and the nightlife is excellent. If you ever go to Portugal you should try chicken piri piri. It's gorgeous. I couldn't pick a fave restaurant as they were all really nice but Scot's Rock and the Kilt and Kelt do the best ever breakfasts and snacks. All the bars and clubs are fab but for us Garage, La Bamba and Reno's were definately the best. The only thing is after 10pm the drinks are a little expensive. (About 4.50 euros). But before 10pm they are quite cheap. (About 2.50 euros). However, the further up the strip you go the cheaper the alcohol becomes. The food makes up for this small price to pay as it's the best foreign food i've had. It's all cooked fresh to order as it's illegal in Portugal to reheat food. Also it's so cheap. (About 10 euros for a meal and 3 drinks, in most places). This was definately the best holiday resort i've been to and we are already planning to go back in June! We'll definately stay at Vilanova too.

We found Albufeira to be very clean and looked well cared for.
Both the old town and the 'STRIP' have their entertainment, each having a wide variety of things to see and marvel at.
A glorious sandy beach which stretches from the Fishermans beach to the bottom of the 'STRIP'is a must.
Would we visit the resort again? START THE AEROPLANE.....

found the resort cleaner than a lot of spannish resorts we've visited.resort entertainment was what you made of it although if you fancied a bit more a taxi into town only cost 10 euros.the beach's where superb but water very cold so only for the brave.we would; and plan to go back to this resort next year and 100% recomend the vale de carros appartments to anybody.

The resort of Montechoro has hundreds of bars and restaraunts that are open most of the day. Old Town Albufeira has lots of bars and restaraunts and little market stalls that go all through the streets. You can catch a train from Montechoro to the old town for 2 euros one way, well worth it. The resort is immaculately clean, a must to visit for a great holiday.

having always dreamed of going to portugal it turned out to be a big let down. there were bars/restaurants/shops etc, but nothing different. the local people were lovely, but were outnumbered 5-1 by english workers, who were not so lovely. At the weekends there were lots of children begging on the strip, even women holding newborn babies. i found this very intimidating, especially in portugal.
didn't see a single timeshare tout during the whole 2 weeks so that was good.
beaches were very clean, but you had to be really fit to go up and down the steps/hills. not may sunbeds for hire though so buy a beach mat.

Albufeira is a resort that really has everything that a matureish sort of person would want. There are lovely restaurants with very good food, Some music pubs, occasionally live music. I think that if you go high season the livelier it is but we weren't particularly looking for a lively time as golf was the main priority.
The beaches are good in Albufeira but there are better beaches in other areas of the Algarve...depends what you want. We preferred to be located near the night life and to travel out during the day in the hire car.
