Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

Albufeira was very good but I am pleased we went in May as we would have found it too busy in the summer. It was our first holiday in Portugal and we shall return.

Albufeira (Old Town) is superb. Although hilly behind the Square, its cobbled streets are lovely and the Square is the place to sit and watch, while enjoying a drink at one of the many bars. 'Sir Harry's bar' is particularly good to 'people-watch' and for the street entertainment buskers and Brazilian Indian bands playing the pan-pipes.
Lovely stuff! Fisherman's beach is great, as are the restaurants overlooking it (although a bit pricey, being on the tourist track).
The long beach leading to Praia d'Oura is fabulous, a great walk with plenty of 'watering holes' along the way!
A great resort all round!

Although the accommodation wasn't up to scratch Albufeira and the rest of the Algarve is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited and I will certainly go back many times in the future.
Old town and New town both equally as clean. Entertainment in Old town square particularly fabby. Everyone please visit Portugal once in your lifetime some of the loveliest, friendliest people I have ever met!!

Albufeira old town is a maze of white washed buildings. There are more restaurants than it would be possible to visit in a months stay! The main sqare is the centre of activity. Johnny Hooper, a superb saxophonist, plays there three mornings a week and other musicians can also be heard. The resort is generally clean and the beach is spotless. The sand is firm with no pebbles or shingle. The beach shelves at points and can get crowded as the tide comes in.You can walk a considerable distance to the beaches in the newer parts of Albufeira when the tide is low. There is also a small train that travels around the various parts of the resort.

Hotel Eirasol staff were most friendly, couldn't have been better, there was only one lift but we never waited long for it, if we had gone mid season it might have been a problem, appartment was very basic, but it was adiquet.
The strip was on the door-step, which led to cardiac hill, but it is well worth the effort for such a wonderful beach. Old town is close by, but it's a good walk, alternatively you can get the local "train" from the strip which will take you there have a shop, some lunch, and get the "train" back.
We spent a very enjoyable week in Albufeira.

The resort was really nice although they are not big on street cleaning! There were some great places to eat and the beach area was great. In Praia D'Oura there is a Challanging slope down to the beach which was not that bad at all really. The old town was only 5 euros by taxi and was well worth a visit!

Albufeira has lovely beaches, although the sea is extremely cold, being the Atlantic. Children would enjoy the big waves, especially with a Boogy Board!
You can;t ask for any more entertainment- nearly every bar has karaoke or music shows nightly. There are far too amny restaurants to choose from.
The only reason we would not visit this resort again is because we like to go somewhere different evry time we go away. We would definately visit the Algarve again.

The resort of albufeira is divided into old town and the strip. The old town is very pretty and full of traditional restaurants and shops. Fisherman's Beach is in the old town and it is really beautiful and clean with near white sand and clear blue sea. The touts can get a bit annoying especially in the square where they are all competing to get you in their restaurants. It is slightly more expensive for food in the old town, especially for seafood dishes(which seems mad because the fish is caught locally!). I would definately recommend a few nights spent in the old town because the atmosphere is lovely and there is plenty going on (we went in this month so i can imagine the summer months are great down there!)
'The strip' area of albufeira is located at the other end, and conists of one street divided by a crossroads. the street is full of bars (many of them kareoke bars) and restaurants. There are many different types o food available such as Indian (the taj mahal has gorgeous food!), Chinese, Pasta, and more traditional foods. A place i would recommend going is Wild&Co which is situated at the bottom end of the strip towards the beach. It is a wild west theme bar where the waitresses wear cowgirl outfits and the waiters stand on the bar juggling bottles and making great cocktails. It is quite expensive but worht a visit purely for the entertainment. Ladies get in free and men pay 5 euros (my boyfriend wasnt too chuffed, haha).
The strip is a little less clean than the old town and does have a few beggars and annoying touts. Drinking and eating here again isnt cheap but many places do happy hours that run from 7-10.
I would definately visit albufeira again, maybe more in season to see what the nightlife is really like.

The resort of Albuferia is perfect for everyone! The new town (or the strip) offers a lively evening option for either eating in one of the many restaurants or drinking in one of the many bars. The old town offers a more layed back view on 'holidaying', the square offers live street entertainers which included musicians, puppeteers and firebreathers. Situated around the square are many restaurants affering either inside or outdoor seating if you prefer to watch the entertaintment! There are also some excellent seafood restaurants. There is a train that operates between both the old and the new town and runs every 20 mins - you can buy a day pass for about 6 euros. There is a Modelo supermarket located about half way between the old and the new town with excellent food shopping facilities, a food court located on the floor below including pizza hut, a deli sandwich shop and a burger bar. There are also several clothes shops, phone shops, an electrical store, jewellers, a shoe shop and a sports store. Over the road there is a macdonalds a few bars and clothes shops. In all the transfer time from the airport is only about 25 mins and the rest of the algarve is easily in reach for anyone hiring a car.

Albufeira is great for family holidays - lot's to do day and night. We went All Inclusive so didn't eat out but there are hundreds of restaurants and bars to choose from within a short walking distance from the hotel. No problems walking around, but watch out for the time share louts trying to give you "free holidays" with scratch cards. Beaches are great, and the Hotel has a free bus 3 times a day to take you to the fisherman's beach and back.
