Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

we stayed near swatch watch roundabout, halfway between the strip (like blackpool, loud music, bars, shops, entertainment) and old town (like york, quieter but still liveley, street entertainment, shops, bars). within few minutes walk from our apartments were a modern shopping centre, macdonalds, pizza hut, local restaurants, bars and shops. a 15 minute stroll downhill led us to the old town, where you arrive at the square where all the entertainment is going on,inca bands, puppeteer, portrait painters (if you have a spare 2-3 hours you might want to have yours painted, but you will get cramp,my kids started falling asleep while he was painting them. live music in lots of bars, neil diamond singalike etc, quite a few beer shops where you can go buy a bottle or can and just walk around watching the entertainment,a very cheap night out. then the strip, wouldnt fancy having my hotel down there, simply because of the loud music, okay for young people but i felt sorry for families with young kids who were staying right in the middle of it. beach lovely, but we are not beach lovers anyway so only visited a few times. plenty to do in albufeira, relaxing by day, drinking and eating by night, went to water park which is quite a way out,but had a great day there. we have never been back to the same resort twice, simply because we want to try new places, but both myself and my husband can honestly say we would go back to albufeira again. we would stay in the middle again though, cos you get the best of both worlds, then go back to the peace and quiet at the end of the night

the resort is split in two, with the strip which has loads of bars and things for the younger generation, and the old town that i enjoyed, plenty of restaurants' bars, live entertainment the indians are a must to watch if they are there,i bought their cd only 10 euros.to get to the beach you have to walk through a tunnel it was kept clean but got really hot abit of a sun trap.absolutley love albufeira ,the people are fantastic, would definately go back.

A great place for the kids is the waterpark, Zoomarine is alright but I would go on your own cause there is not much to do there for 6 hours. Albufeira as a whole is fab, food is great with plenty of bars. If you like to shop, the Algrave shopping centre is about a 10 min taxi ride, great perfumes shops, ( Not a big at it seems but ok for afternoon out) McDonalds, KFC and Pizza Hut for the kids.

The resort itself was quite clean and tidy the streets were cleaned on an evening and the rubbish taken away. There was always something going on in the square in the old town on an evening you could spend hours just watching the artist and street entertainers do there thing, while at the other end of town in the strip it was a lively party atmosphere with so many bars and cafes staying open till the early hours.
The beach was clean and the sand very soft, there are little caves along the beach were you can get out of the hot sun, but watch out for that sea its the Atlantic and it is freezing. I would certainly visit this resort and hotel again it was one of the best holidays I have had.

I stayed in Sao Jao near Montechoro although brochure stated Albuferia. The resort itself was fine, spoilt for choice entertainment wise, plenty of great places to eat, people very friendly. Beach was lovely but quite far from accomodation, would go back to Algarve but definetly not SILCHORO.
The resort we was in wasvery loud at night, as we were only a few mins away from the strip, but back at the hotel it was nice and quiet. lots of shops and resturants. plently of shops to buy basics. lots of cash machines about. The beach we only went to once or twice as it was a long walk, but was nice and clean.
The best thing we did was go to Slide and Splash a great fun day out and well organsied by reps.
Although the one thing i would say about the area surrounding the Dom Pancho was it wasnt partically clean and there was alot of graffti which did ruin it a bit.

The stip is the most livelest place I have been in the Algarve, very friendly, lots of bars, bit of a walk to the beach, if your young and just going for nite life excellent.
Albufeira Strip isn't full of lager-louts and hooligans - it's so nice and clean and the Portugese are a very friendly nation.
There's an abundance of places to eat and drink everywhere you go, and the beaches are covered with lovely golden sand.
Sao Jao beach and Praia de Oura are the best, whilst a little further along the coastline is the luxury resort of Quinta do Lago - this is where the 5 star hotels, best golf-courses and rich people can be found (and we found one last year.......)Beautiful beach but very strong waves and it can get a bit windy, so it's perfect for getting a top tan!!
The old town is well worth a visit too, again with plenty to eat and drink and buy (their ornaments and trinkets are very good quality and reasonably priced too!!)
All in all, the Algarve is the best holiday destination we've visited, in terms of availability and variety within the different resorts - book up soon!!
