Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

We found Sao Joao to be livelier than expected! Although this is not a complaint!
Plenty of bars & resturants to keep you going for 2 weeks. The beach was very nice although the sea was cold even in August!
The place is child friendly too - I think there is something for everyone here. Would visit again. Enjoy!

The resort is quiet with some fantastic restaraunts..great if you like seafood and not too expensive. All are in easy walking distance with a few bars should you want to party the night away, otherwise fairly quiet.
The beach is a 20 minute walk or cheap bus ride, but worth it. It is big not too busy and has places to eat on the beach as well as at the top of the walk way.

Resort was good for us as we had two 12-15 year olds and three 17 year olds who found something to do all the time and had a really good holiday. Beach was lovely and clean although the sea was cold! You could always get a nice place to sit as it wasn't too crowded even though it was peak holiday time. The strip was Ok and had lots of bars and restaurants if you wanted to eat out, although we didn't need to, and there were lots of gift shops for souvenirs, etc. The old town was just a 10 minute walk along the beach and had lots of shops although you did get pestered with people trying to give you scratchcards, but we just ignored them. All in all a lovely holiday.

The resort was perfect for me and my boyfriend as being 22 we had the choice of the strip or the old town. We actually preferred the old town as there were loads of lovely restaurants and it was still quite lively. We found the strip quite tacky, the bars were small and crowded. The beach was lovely, really picturesque. We liked sunset beach which was one of the central coves. It was quiet and un crowded even in July.

Very helpful people, clean beaches, none very far from each other, taxi fare reasonable, food variety good, caters well for all.

The nearest beach is about 15 mins walk and frequented by locals. You can hire sun loungers with canopies for around 13 euros but it is quite congested.
There are lots of nice local restaurants and the 3 marias in particular have a 4 course lunch for 8.50 euros. Avoid cantana and tiffany's!

Albufeira is a lovely resort on the Algarve, with beautiful beaches, plenty of bars, cafes and shops.

The Algarve was brilliant. We recommend taking a trip to slide and splash because that was a great day out. At night there were a number of bars and restaurants available to visit on the strip.
