Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

The resort itsself is very lively and a great happening place for all ages. The restaurants are fab as is the shops and pubs. There is a particulary fab chinese restaurant called Jade which is on the corner at the cross roads on the strip. The staff are lovely and the food is out of this world. We visited the market on Wednesdays which again is a great but very high crime rate. High with pick pockets.
If it wasn't for the high crime rate in this resort I would go back in a minute but after being robboed on our visit we will never be back.

Very clean, lots of hills to climb, loads of bars restaurants, some with entertainment.
The strip particularly lively at night.
Clean sandy beaches.
I would go again when I've got an electric wheel chair

We would reccomend 3 places to visit when you have kids with you The zoo marine, Slide and Splash and Aqua-land these were most enjoyable.
The strip is also very good and has lots of places to dine.
The beaches are very good also.

The whole of the area around was excellent and well kept gardens an such. Only saw one cockroach the whole fortnight!!!
The Old Town had the best bars and entertainment, and you must try some of the restaurants in the square, they are outstanding! We ate down there most nights.
The Strip is very good, but more younger people go there and the shops sell mostly the same stuff.
We would definitely stay here in this resort and I am going to book again for next year.

Plenty to do. Visit the old town of Albuferia, lots of lovely shops and street entertainment. We were going to go on a trip to Loula market but this was very expensive if going with Thomson. Even independent outlets were expensive with a family our size.
On the last day we found out that a gypsy market is held in Albuferia on a Wednesday. I was told that this was exactly the same market that is at Loula and at Quarteria, it just moves around. So I could have paid well over £100 and a lengthy coach ride to go to Loula market when I could have paid nothing and gone to Albuferia.

Anyone looking for loads of bars and restaurants will get them at "the strip", a 1.5 mile graduating up hill road, lined with every type of bar. Some are tacky, but restaurants are generally okay, especially "frogs" pizza bar. Sinatra's bar at the Montechoro end of the strip is a good bar, English staff, a favourite haunt of Steven Gerrard!
Further there is the only Greek restaurant on the Algarve, there 'special' plate smashing night is something to behold!
Albufeira, of which Praia d' Oura is part, has something to suit everyone.

The resort was aimed a golfers and thats all you saw everywhere you looked. The main shops were in Almancil which we could only get to by taxi or if you hire a car as there were no busses from our hotel area.

The resort is buzzing and the vilanova is bang in the middle of it but you wouldn't really know it, if you don't like it busy then it is not for you. There is everying bars, numerous places to eat, shops etc. We didn't go on any of the trips it was too hot. A family we met went on the Zoomarine trip but said it was a nightmare, it was packed there was nowhere to cool off and wouldn't go again. We had a walk down to the beach down cardiac hill and it is a big hill and the see was freezing, so we tended to stay at the pool as it was excellent.
