Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

This was my 1st time in the Algarve and had a wonderful time in the Montechoro district in Albufiera Portugal. Thou a little more expensive than its nearby usual 'brits favourite' Spanish neighbours i thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the region and found the locals friendlier and the resort cleaner and safer than my many visits to Spain! lots to do and see in this beautiful country.
Go there you'll love it!!!!

The resort of Albufiera is certainly clean, all over the place you will see people sweeping up. Around the square there is plenty of bars, shops, restaurants and street entertainers. The square itself is flat but Albufiera is a very hilly place. Whilst there for a week from 4th September the fisherman festival was on, and the firework display put our bonfire nights in England to shame.. We had a superb view from our hotel room.
One trip I recommend is the Aquamarine, our six year old thoroughly enjoyed it, and the dolphin show is superb, make sure you go to the latter one though as all 7 dolphins come out on that one.. And dont forget you swimming gear as they have a massive pool and 2 shallow ones for the young ones. One nightout we found to be poor was the Portugese night out 38 euros for adults, half price for kids. I would say it is a nice night out for the older end of the market as long as you like chicken piri-piri. We were told there was face painting to keep them amused, no such thing, Nathan was bored, he fell asleep, and to be truthful so was John and I, the only thing that kept us going was the free flowing wine. There is no choice in food, chicken pir-piri for adults and plain chicken for the kids. Mum enjoyed it though, the singer and band were quite good, but the local guys and gals dancing got repatitive..
One restaurant I strongly recommend is the Alibaba Chinese Restaurant, superb food, very clean, and not bad prices in comparison with England. At the end of the night we always caught a taxi back to the complex it only cost 5 euros - (about ÂŁ3.50) it is there minimum charge. And dont be put off by the size of the queue either, there are always taxis pulling up. There is an hand drawn artist in the square his pictures are magnificent. If you dont fancy sitting there for quite a while, take along a snap, leave it with him for a couple of days, and he will do a beautiful picture. Dont know the cost but I wished I had done it.
To reach the beach from Jardim 1, leave hotel down the main entrance, once at the main road you will see 3 roads in front of you and the main highway to the left of you, take the road in front of you which is on the left, passed the local bar, carry on walking down till you see a bar called the Blue Bell, take the steps down to the left, passed the church, across the road and down more steps to your left, 2 mins walk and you will come out onto a street with shops, bars etc. To the left is the tunnel and to the right and right again is the square. The beach and sea are clean, and the sea is safe for kids as it doesnt all of a sudden go deep, it is gradual. I would certainly travel back here and highly recommend it.

Albufeira is a lovely resort. Really really clean and the beaches are lovely. Personally, I preferred the Old Town at Albufeira as the food is of a higher standard to the that on the strip. On a night it is busier and more cultured. Lots of lovely bars and restaurants. If I were to go to Albufeira again I would definitely stay in the Old Town

We spent most of our time in the Old Town rather than the more lively Strip. The walk from the apartments to the town took about 15/20 minutes and was along well lit and well used routes. It felt very safe.
The town square is a lovely place to eat and spend the evening. Entertainers including mime artists, pan pipe players and singers can be found here. Drinks can be quite expensive though.

Our hotel was 300mts from the Strip where there were loads of bars and restaurants, a taxi to the "Old Town" was 5 euros, a tourist train links each part of the resort and runs until midnight.
Best meal was at the Sizzling Stone Restaurant off the Strip in Rua Jose Fondana to the left towards Cardiac Hill, although all meals we had were of a high quality - don't take it for granted that they accept credit cards.
Best breakfasts we had were at the Celt & Kilt, Mary Annes just off the strip.
We stayed in the 2nd week of September and daytime temps were between 26-30 deg C, nights cooled of towards the end of our stay.
We only saw a few timeshare scratch card merchants which for once did not seem to bother too many people, but the mothers clutching babies and holding out a box for money was quite sad.

Albuferia was amazing it has loads today everyday, water parks, Zoo Marine lovely clean beaches beautiful walks, it just lovely. Near where i stayed was a little bit smelly unfortuntly :( caused by the wastes bins which were at the back of our local supermarket!! Where i was located was brilliant because i was in between the old town and the new town so it was only 5-10 mins walk to each. Only vistied the strip a couple of nights as the entertainment in my apartment was too good :) Albuferia is beautiful!!
