Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

The strip is very lively, the beaches are excellent and the old town is a definite must see. On the whole this resort has something for all tastes.

The resort of Oera Praya which consists of a time share complex and time share apartments is rather tired but then its one of the original timeshare sites from many years ago.
However the atmosphere and local people could not be nicer local restaurant and shopping prices are excellent appx 30% cheaper than Spain for beer and tobacco.
The beach area is spotless but no Life Guards lovely area for kids with loads of little caves and nooks and crannies to keep them busy.

Albuferia was a great place for us; we mainly visited the old town and the square and ate out there every evening.
Great place for entertainment or just for watching the world go by.

The resort is great with plenty of bars and resaurants.
If you have kids dont worry there is plenty to amuse them too. Coconuts bar is recomended.
Prices are not too bad. The beaches are very clean and patroled by lifeguards so are safe for children.
Not to be missed.

The strip is good with a varied choice of restaurants, shops and bars. My daughter liked the more lively ones with the music pumping out.
The beach is beautiful but beware of the tide coming in at a very fast rate!! If the tide is fully in there is barely any beach left.
They have built new boardwalks along the beach with a new eating place (we tended to use the second beach along from Club Praia d'Oura). Cut through the hotel grounds and then drop down to the first beach with the sun beds etc and then carry on up the boardwalk and down to the next one. This part of the beach is very quiet, but then it was April. There are toilets attached to the end of the eating place so you only have to go up the steps and not cut through the restaurant.
I thoroughly recommend the Kilt and Celt Restaurant which is situated just off the strip on the left if you are going towards the sea. Excellent good quality home cooked food, with friendly staff and absolutely spotless.
I can't praise it enough! Zoomarine is a good day out for families only about 15 minutes from Praia D'Oura - you can also swim with the dolphins here. Other excursions available from the resort.

Albufeira is a hilly 45 minute walk westwards but the local town, Olhos d'Agua has everything you need.
Many shops and many, many restaurants. Five minutes walk away, we found the Adega do Ze which has a 3 course 'tourist' dinner for 6 euros! Shaker's Bar has ADSL internet at 1 euro for 20 minutes.
Beaches are clean and sandy and go for miles. Watch out for the tides, they'll cut you off and it's a steep walk out.
Buses are frequent and cheap, bus stop only 5 minutes away.
Cheap spirits and tobacco at Gannesh Artesanto at the bottom of the 'steep hill'. You'll find it. They even bubble wrap the bottles for you.
Enjoy, we did.

We will definately visit Albufeira again, it has all you require for a perfect holiday. We liked the old town square where live music to suit all was played from about 11am. Only one word for the beaches.....superb.
