Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Albufeira is the best place in the Algarve for a holiday if you've never been to Portugal before.
It's got something for everyone great beaches,nice pubs,shops and restaurants,plenty of places of interest and the train that takes you from the old town to the strip which is the other side of town.
There's a lot more to Portugal but this is the best place to start.

The overall resort was not very big, beaches were nice, but then after a day at the beach be prepared to stagger up the hilly roads.

Albufiera off season is very clean, pleasant and certainly not crowded. There are some bars/restaurants closed off season but plenty are open.Getting around could be difficult if you have mobility problems, most of the streets are cobbled.However there are plenty of taxis (it seems every journey costs 5 euros no matter how short. A simpler cheaper solution is the tourist train that runs in a loop around the resort every twenty minutes. An allday ticket costs 3 euros and you can use the train as often as you like.Costs are similar to UK, wine , cigarettes and local fresh fish are cheap especially from the bigger supermarkets.Lunch in the town square at an open bar is a pleasant way to spend a few hours on a warm sunny day even in November.

The reason for the 3 in resort entertainment, is that due to it being the winter a lot of the bars etc were closed, so I am sure that in high season the place would be fantastic. However it was just what we were looking for a nice quiet relaxing holiday.
The beach was gorgeous, even though hill wasn't that bad. Unless you are there with a couple of kids, and attemptign to push a buggy up the hill.
The resort was really clean, no complaints there at all.

The resort cleaniness was okay, but dusty in some area's
Resort entertainment was placed within the hotel reception, didnt really stay around the hotel very much though so information is limited.
The beach was beautiful with lots of parasol and sun loungers to rent out for the day. Lovely beach side bars and resturants were brilliant. But the closer to the sea front the more expensive it gets.
I would defiantly visit again, it is such a nice and relaxing place to visit. The locals are very friendly and the bars and clubs on the strip are brilliant with lots of choice on food and drinks.

The old town is charming and full of local culture, always good entertainment found in the square.
Beautiful well maintained cobbled streets.
Exellent beaches for all ages and you can walk on the waters edge for miles.
The best part is the local people in the shops and bars they are so polite and respectful no pressured sales or pushy staff.
Will go back but only to the old town not the new part that I am afraid held no magic for us and is like any other busy over commercialised resort the same the world over.

The resort had everything we needed. plenty of bars & places to eat beach was clean & plenty of room only thing was the amount of dog muck about. None in the actual old town centre but walking to & from the square to the hotel there was plenty!
Two fantastic restuarants- Casa da Fonte which had a lovely courtyard with a huge lime tree in the middle & O' Tunnel fantastic steaks & great service, less hurried than any other restaurant

Great beaches and clear sea. Very clean resort.A little bit away from the main strip and from the old town. But taxis are very cheap.

The resort was a 5 min walk to the beach and the beach was absolutely gorgeous.
There were a number of bars and restaurants nearby which served up delicious food, a variety of different cuisines as well.
I would recommend the hill walk which you access from the beach, the scenery was spectacular and we came across a beach about 15 mins walk and it was breathtaking and there was only me and my husband on it!
Our resort was around 5 miles from the centre and easy to access by bus but only around 8 euros for a taxi. I am now planning my next years holiday to the same place!
