Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

Unfortunately we arrived only to find out that Albufeira Old Town is currently undergoing major refurbishment and was SHUT (locals say it may be next year before it opens again)! We frequented Albufeira new town "the strip" where you will find an excellent choice of bars and restaurants. Our favourite restaurant was La Bamba - we went there 4 nights out of 7 nights and the food was consistently excellent and the staff very hospitable. Our favorite bar was "Renos" bar, great staff (hello Jenny and Hope), excellent choice of drinks (happy hour until 10.00pm) and the music was good too. We will definitely return to Albufeira, the Portugese and very polite, helpful and friendly.

We stayed in the Alto de Colina, which is about 15-20 minutes walk from the main areas of the Strip. Beaches briliant. Sea chilly, you can walk from the beach below the Alfagar to Fishermans beach via some cliffs if you like long strools. Also excellent beaches in opposite direction.
While we were there the whole of the square in the old town was completely a building site as they were replacing drains etc. Strip could do with cleaning more often. Occasional stray dog.
Pleanty of entertainment on the strip, Visit Farnels on a side street just off the Strip behind the Adeia hotel, excellent food at reasonable prices friendly staff, but be prepared to wait if you are not there early, gets full every night. Also the Mary Ann's make you feel at home beer only 1:50 Euro for a large beer 1 Euro for a small, 4 Euros for double spirit after 9 pm. Will make up cocktails at your request. Little Britain seems as if owners are fairly new but good breakfast (when my husband asked for a beer the owner said that the fruit juice that I had would not be charged for as it was included in the price of his breakfast) and British newspapers to read while you are waiting.

We love Albfeira and it is our fifth visit. Our only disappointment this year, The Old Town was like a building site as it is all being refurbished.
Plenty places to eat and drink nearby, O'Cantino just outside hotel, lovely snack food and cheap beer, owners very friendly. Monsoon Indian/Thai Buffet restaurant over the road, first class, eat as much as you like for 12Euro, very friendly owner also.
We drank at Nelsons Sports Bar at the bottom of the strip, at the top of cardiac hill. What a character, friendly and lots of fun. Excellent British Fish and Chip shop next door, best fish and chips we've ever had (and thats including back home). Tried Portugese restaurant Bom Garfo but were completly ignorned for about 20mins, so left...

The resort was great, really lively. I would definately visit Albufeira again. The beach was lovely. The whole resort was really clean. We thought the prices would be high as it is in the euro but it wasn't that bad, most places along the strip for food and drink were pretty reasonably priced.

The resort of Albufeira old town was like a building site as they are renovating the centre it should have been finished earlier on in the year but then it was on Portuguese time hope its finished now. I understand the other side of the centre starts in October for 9 months feel for the bar and shop owners as it must affect trade. There are several bars with entertainment.I take it when the squares finished you can watch entertainment there also. The beaches are very nice and very clean.I will be returning again next May hope the square will be finished.Plenty of very nice places to eat shop around as the prices vary.Take the litle train ride from old town to new town (strip) worth the money. The strip was ok during the day but at night it was packed with the younger generation ok if your young and like the heaving bars and expensive beer.Gifts jewellery etc was cheaper in the new town.Don't bother walking all over to find the cheapest fags and booze they are all the same price.(old town).Take a cardigan or jacket for evenings as it can get a bit chilly.

Location was halfway & a bit far to walk to strip or old town but taxi was never more than 4 euros . Well located as next to modelo supermarket, could buy just about anything we needed there.

The resort was very hilly and there are to many scratch card timeshare clowns bugging you all the time. But apart from that the locals are very friendly the many coffee shops are clean and up to a high standard, the food is very edible and not expensive.
The local bus service is cheap, one Euro anywhere on the circular routes and runs on time, never needed to use the Taxi's.

Praia D Oura near Albufeira has a beautiful beach , perfect for couples and families, The location and scenery is lovely. The restaurants on the beach and the strip all serve fantastic food and the quality is excellent. The service also is excellent.
A lovely resort.

The resort of Balaia is very very quiet and a bit out of the way you need a taxi into albuferia to the strip where all the entertainment is, we had no problems getting a taxi which cost 4 euros you can walk but it is a very busy road and with 3 children it took about 35 minutes, however this was april and taxi readilly available, a friend of mine went in august and it was impossible to get a taxi.
The beach is not a long walk away but it is down steep steps which we didnt go to, but there is a beach in albuferia which is small but nice with restaurants overlooking the sea and some water sports.
