Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

Sao Joao is a beautiful spot and the beaches are clean although when we were there in February it was very cold at night due to a stiff wind off the atlantic so take some warm stuff you will need it!!
The Strip seems to be the place to head for but as it was winter most of the bars were only just starting to open for the season so it would be unfair to pass judgement.
We were S/C and found the Kelt & Kilt the best place for breakfast and if you like Indian cuisine I recommend The Clay Oven its cheap and the quality of the food is superb also try Angelus bar there alot of brits drink there that live locally.

The resort was very clean and tidy even though the old town is in the process of some big renovations so there is was not that much to see in this area. The Strip was very quite as we travelled ot of season and the constant hassle from Time share touts is really anoying they even drive around in cars and stop in the middle of the road to bother you. There are plenty of places to eat here we reccomend the Country Cockerel Kitchen and Luigis. Both do fantastic food and reasonably priced as well. Jeep Safari is a good day out. The beaches are a long way from the Paladim apartments not ideal if you have children. You can catch the tourist train from nearly outside for 3 euros and this lets you on and off as much as you want. Very nice apart from the touts sooner something done about them the better it will be.

Fantastic beaches and places to visit.
Do not go in the winter months. Everything is closed. Restaurants, bars and theme parks only have 2 shows daily.
I can imagine in the summer it is better.
The old town is very tranquil and the strip is the normal bars karaoke etc.
I would advise you to hire a car as we did. You see a lot more and each town along the coastline are very close to oneanother. The old town is being revamped this year and the square and footpaths have extensive building. We asked around to see if it would be finished by summer. It was like I was telling a joke. I got a laugh everytime.
If you are going on a cheap holiday, then I would say yes to this resort. We only paid just over ÂŁ300 for a family of 4 inc flights. We cant complain. If you are paying over ÂŁ1000 I would probably say go next year when all the work has been carried out. There are lots of stray dogs.
everything is in close proximity.

Beach great. Quiet because it was off peak so not much on in the strip.

The resort is quite small but has a lovely beach. We visited in January and not everywhere was open but there is still plenty to see and do. There are 2 supermarkets, public phones, ATMs, various tourist shops, several restaurants (I particularly recommend Borda D'Agua which is right on the beach front). The beach is excellent and there are plenty of bars etc within a short walking distance. The only downside was the guys who always hung around the beach front trying to sell cheap watches, sunglasses, jewelery etc but they did take the hint if you said no. Overall a really nice place, highly recommended.

I have been to Albufeira for the past nine years.
It has great beaches but you do have to overcome some steep roads to access them (cardiac hill).
Resort is clean and there is plenty to do in the evening.

This was our second visit to Albufeira having enjoyed it the first time. There is a good selection or restaurants and bars in both the old town around the square and also along the newer part including The Strip. There is a lively atmosphere and the locals are friendly and most can speak english. The standard of service in the bars and restaurants tends to be very good.
We visited ZooMarine, Slide and Splash (both have a free bus service if booked in advance) and Algarve Shopping Centre all of which were well worth it. We also went on trips to Quarteira market and Lagos, Cape St Vincent and Sagres which were all very interesting.
