Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

The resort very much the same as other places ,went out the hotel and karaoke, which I like so it doesnt bother me.
Albertos the best, restaurants mmmmmmmmmm, the one I liked, sizzlin stone a must absolutley fab you have got to go there, best steak I've had in years, went to beach with kids nice, but I found the tide dangerous for kids.
Went once didnt go back ,old town nice, train handy ,but be prepared for a long line of people waiting to get on. Mind you didnt wait too long ,but when its hot wouldnt want to do it,and the people waiting for a cab was even worse.
Im not saying this place is horrible,as it is really nice,so go go go,we didnt venture out much with having 3 kids and 3 oldies hahaha,so it was too much like hard work but theres lots of nice things to see,and the weather was nice only one n half dodgy days, typical when it was the beach day and slide n splash but you cant have everything, kids enjoyed it,so hope you have a good time.

The Old Town was lovely, lots of character.
Always something going on in the square including live music. The standard of the restuarants were very good , in particular the "O' Tunnel" near to the tunnel that takes you onto the beach from the town centre. The owners Paulo & Regina are excellent hosts.
The place is very well run, the food was excellent, the atmosphere was good.....during our stay the other couple we were with had a wedding aniversery and after a word on the quiet the night before, Regina saved us the best table and provided champagne for the happy couple.
All of us will certianly pay another visit. The beach is wonderful and clean (the sea was freezing, but once you had plucked up the courage to get in it was great).
Although the resort seemed to be a mass of hills and steps it wasn't too taxing and didn't stop us from having a great week.

Weve been going to Albufeira and Soa Joao area for the past 7 years and we still enjoy it as much as ever It is clean and welcoming The strip is a bit tacky but we tend to walk around the back which is more low key with some nice friendly bars.
The beach is the best part of albufeira and tempts us back year after year.

The resort of Praia De Oura was wonderful.
The prices of food increased the the closer you got to the strip area. We stayed in the Carruna appts. 5 minute walk from the strip.
Pint of beer by the Appts was 1.25 Euros. on the strip it rose it 5 Euros in a particular bar.
Average price of a 3 course meal for 2 was 15 euros each including drinks. This could be bought a lot cheaper if you was counting the pennys, or should I say cents.
Breakfast's ranged fron 1.5 euros to 10 euros.
Value for money 3.5 euros full english Eddys bar round the corner from Oura praia hotel.

Outside the hotel, there is the usual range of daytrips. I would recommend the "Jeep Safari", this was a really good day out.
The hotel is 10 minutes from the "strip". The "strip" is a mile long street of clubs, pubs & restaurants. It is also a 10 minute walk to the old town. Both are equally good nights out.
The town has a bullring, where they do not kill the bulls, if you go check the direction of the sun & sit in the shade.
There are very few "promotional sellers" in the town, just say NO & they leave you alone, not like other resorts.
The beach is brilliant, it is reasonably steep where the waves break. The sand is a very fine shingle. There are several rocky outcrops that should be avioded. There are coves just below the steps to the beach, not sure whether or bot you could get cut of by the tide.

This resort has something for everyone. There is alot of different types of restaruants and bars in resort. They cater for all different age groups. I did prefered the old town when it came to eating but prefered the new towns nightlife.
The beach is wonderful.

The hotel was always clean because every morning you would find a cleaner either cleaning the floors, tables or even checking the quality of the swimming pool water. The entertainment was excellent because the was always something on with a different thing every night, but it was always late starting (9.30).The beach was away from the hotel, but it was excellent and well packed with other holiday makers

the new resort or "strip" is awful with a feeling that apart from weather we might as well be in blackpool.
the old town is more what you expect to find in a holiday resort with old and new buildings mixing well together.
the square in the old town has a relaxing feel with muted entertainment during the day and noisier at night but retaining the feel of relaxation
