Don't pay extra for a sea view as most rooms have a sea view or over-look the quiet pool. Restaurants/drinks in and around square expensive but there are a few bars and restaurants near the hotel circa half the price. Best, The Bagatelle.150m from hotel is the best. On the flat?

Good location but self catering is the way to go and there is a supermarket close by.

Upper floors of blocks 3, 4, or 5 seem to be the best located for views away from the main block 2 where rather reception, restaurants, bars and entertainment is held. We were on the 4th floor and were very satisfied apart from not being aware of the lack of hob and oven.
Boardwalks have been built by the hotels of the area giving easy access to the beach and beach side kiosks and restaurants. The best beach restaurant we found was Os Salgados, a seafood restaurant.
One at the other end of the beach was far less agreeable with ambience, food and service. Walking beyond Os Salgados on boardwalks are views of a river/ lagoon where you can see fish, water birds and terrapins. Not too far from Albufeira for more restaurants and shops.

Brilliant hotel located very close to the square, where you will find a large number of restaurants and bars.

The Algarve has fantastic weather and the beach (praia d'oura)was brilliant. Take the tourist train to the old town for a tour of the area, the return journey is 3 euros each. Watch out however for the pavements they can be a bit up and down and can be dangerous if you slip and fall.

the resort was wonderful for families and young teenagers 15-17, but the 19 yr olds we hadwith us who had returned from malia in greece a month before were slightly less enthusiastic. The people were very friendly and lots to see and do,it was a very clean safe enviroment that we can't wait to return to.

The strip has a reputation for being a hot spot and to be fair it can be extremely busy, there are a lot of noisy bars and disco's split by huge tv screens blasting out all the sport and music video's.
What you will find is a bar with music that will almost certainly suit your own style, we personnally like the sixties bar, and the Chor bar(which serves excellent food), both at the top end of the strip.
If you like piri piri you will not beat Agapitos in Aura,(5 mins walk) from the strip. in the same area is papa joe's which should not be missed, great food and great entertainment from the waiters.
Yyou do have to put up with timeshare sales, normally at the crossroads in the middle of the strip. you also have the usual waiters outside of most of the eateries plying for your business, the good part is that you do get free tasters.
If you are staying in the strip area you are quite central to most of the Algarves attractions. There are good days out at many water parks. We like krazy world, which has two crazy golf courses which are a real challenge plus plenty of things going on to entertain a family for the whole day.
There are too many places to recommend visiting but the gipsy market in quarteria on wdnesday and again in loule on saturdays is worth a visit, plenty of bargains, don't forget to barter.
Have fun.

The Strip...
Has everything you need.
Our faves
To eat...
Blues Bar 2 and The Cottage.
(Tom & Jerrys if you have younger kiddies-by the water tower)
To drink...
Sixties Bar is the best on the strip.
The drinks prices aren't the cheapest on the strip but for friendliness you won't get better.

Still a good resort with many more bars this time and some new shops.

There are a 4 or 5 restaurants by the oura beach - touristy but lovely in the evening time when you can look out at the sardine boats in the distance. They are good with children too. There were a lot of Portuguese holidaymakers on the beach which was good to see.
Montechoro strip is very tacky. Albufeira town is more interesting but again it's geared towards tourists. Given that we had small children we didn't travel much but if we were in the Algarve again, I would try Alvor or Lagos which seem to be more authentic Algarvian.

The resort is very quiet and quite upmarket. There are about 12 restaurants, including a chinese & an indian within driving distance. Very good beach restaurants selling seafood. Beaches are beautiful. Nearest is about 10mins walk from the villas. Very clean with good facilities although the drive to gale beach (about 2miles away) can get very busy if you dont leave early in the morning. A few shops for basic supplies but Albuferia is just 10-15 mins drive away. A car is definately needed for this resort.
